Why is it - If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor - but if you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver's license, a social security card and free health care? Whose bright idea was this?

Sad to say but it's true. I'm not against immigration...hell I'm not Native American. My family came here from Germany way way back. However a Montana Senator Conrad Burns said it best..."I voted against amnesty for ilegal aliens because that just sends the wrong message to the immigrants trying to follow the proper channels and do it legally." We are in deep trouble in out homeland and "things" are about to happen that our country will never recover from. OK, I'll get off the soap box now.

BTW, no, it doesn't make any damn sense at all.

I'm not against immigration either but I feel that if they want to come to this country they should be treated like the rest of us. My family also came from Germany way, way back.

This place is going to hell in a handbasket.

I just hope all this crap doesn't do us in as a country.

I fear that we're all going to be speaking spanish and paying rent to the Chinese.

One of the radio DJs on KFI here in Los Angeles made an interesting point, that it's nearly impossible to militarize the southern US border. The reason is because if you fire a shot into Mexico, that's an act of war, so then if you have to fire a shot on US soil and that would be an undeclared war, also a problem. So I guess they say that we need about 4x the amount of INS agents and give them more power, because we can't actually use the military in this country without a declaration of war.

I gotta say, when I went to CT a few weeks ago, and I also remember visiting my wife's grandparents in Maine, there's no dual English-Spanish signs in the Wal-Mart over there. I think that's half the problem, Ted Kennedy lives in Taxachussetts and they don't have the illegals like we have them in Los Angeles. Hell, Barbara Boxer even lives in NorCal and so it's not like she lives it.

BTW, I think I saw an article headline today that the fire in Santa Cruz was started because of Mexican drug smuggling. In other parts of the country, and in the Mojave desert, there's big problems with meth; I suspect the fire lately was because of weed, which there are now becoming big Mexican weed contingents here in CA. Suffice it to say I'd like to leave the state, I think AZ or NV would be up there in my dream states, but hell if I can find a job there.

I dont have any problems with it, I do believe they should have to go through as much shit as we do to get a license etc etc.... but there isnt much to stop it.

I can walk to the border in about 20 minutes.... thats how close I live and work from it. and its nuthing but a 4 ft tall barb wire fence.

cant stop a determined people, and the INS is nuthing but traitors.

if Drugs and the violence associated with it are concerns, then the demand for drugs in the US needs to drop, but as it seems the usage of narcotics has only increased the last 5 years, I reckon there needs to be a change in "our" society for that "mexican drug violence" to stop.... I bet if all "organic" narcotics were made legal and taxed in a sort of way then drugs violence would drop 75% and american economy would pick up 50%.

Forgot to include NM in my "states to go to after CA!" Damn! You know I've visited Las Cruces (NMSU) and I like the feel of that town as well. And oddly, as you mention, it's closer to Mehico than Pasadena, but it doesn't seem as bad WRT aforementioned matters.

Well said. Ditto. Not all of our problems are with immigration though. I might be about to open a big can of Political worms but I just had pretty heated words last week with a guy that is a mega Obama supporter. He started by saying that Bush sunk this country so far with the Iraq war that Obama can't save it. I disagreed with him and we sensibly went back and forth for a few minutes then he got pissed and kept getting louder and louder. I finally told him that even without finding weapons of mass destruction the world is a better place without Saddam and his regime in power. We agreed to disagree and went our own ways. All this took place at a gas pump.

I indirectly know a fair share of illegal immigrants. I'm not against immigration, I'm against illegal immigration.

These people know our systems better than we do -- and we're all citizens. They know that Indiana is among the easiest states to get a drivers license, they use social security numbers that aren't in use anymore -- or are they? It isn't even hard to come up with a fake identity when sites like Fake Name Generator exist -- and contain links to check a social security number.

What bothers me is that they're undermining the country, they're working for next to nothing and living in their clicks of neighborhoods -- where it can be afforded. A portion of the money is being sent back to Mexico (or other country) which exasperates our national deficit.

As much as I don't like North Korea, I have to say -- They're right about their border policies.

you are most certainly always welcome here! it would be oftly nice to have another person into LUVs.... hard to get drunk alone, im a piss poor alcoholic. LOL

Yea the immagration thing isnt as bad here, as a matter of fact its a way of life! This town would fall apart on the agriculture side if it wasnt for the mexican immigrants. between the fields and our local military test command its all there really is for jobs and economy! 5 or 6 years ago the INS had a big program going to stop all immigrants from working fields, had to be a full on american to work the fields, 6 farms went under that year, costing the goverment millions in farm insurance programs. So the program was scrapped, and the INS got a big kick in the nuts for not looking into collateral damage.
So I agree that something should be done, but how to do it without hurting the industrys that we depend on to feed, shelter and cloth us is the problem! take the farm workers away and get some poor union ass hole and what used to be a 25 cent apple now cost a 1.25....

not my idea of "made in america"

This illegal invader crap pisses me off too. A while back I got tired of them comming up to me at Home Depot looking for a job. I lost my temper and started shouting at them to leave me alone and go back home. Someone called the cop that was working there and he pulled ME to the side and made ME sit down. I told him what happened and his reply was that they don't have the manpower to arrest them all and send them back. He also asked me how I knew they are illegals. I simply told him to ask them to speak english as having a command of the english language is still a requirement for citizenship. He ignored me, told them to leave and then warned me next time I will be arrested for disturbing the peace, harrasment and something else. I am a natural born U.S citizen and have fewer rights than they do.

That's messed up and you are right. We have less rights now.

Last year I went to a Small Business Administration clinic and to make a long story short I will move to the last briefing of the day..."Funds and Availability". The briefer was a white man. He briefed alot of the programs available and how they are funded, (Federal, State, County....) At the end of his briefing he summed it up this way, If you are a Disabled vet, a minority or a female there are alot of funds and programs available to you. If you are a minority female disabled vet the world is your oyster and the government will just about give you all the money you can ask for. If you are a healthy white male, good luck. There are some loans you will probably qualify for. I have no issues with disabled vets being at the top of the list but where is the equality from that point down?

A friend of mine has a uncle in Montana that owns a truck dealership and the immigrants (install turban here) could go in there and sign the paper work and drive off with a brand new truck that we paid for (government money) and they only have to make $600.00 month to keep it and yet i can not get one to make a living and pay my taxes to support them.

He didn't like it one bit and started refusing to sell them the trucks but ore faithful government went in and told him that he WILL sell them trucks or he will be out off business as they would shut him down. Now that's government thinking to let immigrants get the goods and we pay for them.

It's pretty damn bad that i would have to move to another country claim citizenship then move back so i can live like i should be able to now.

Our boarders need shut down tight and protected and not like the airports where security is done mostly by foreigners.

Sorry about the rant i also will climb down off my soap box.

Whats wrong with a few shots into Mexico? Remember that I am a Texan. My BIL is 3rd generation Mexican American, and that what he says. I speak more Spanish(TexMex) than he does.

There could be a worker program. There already is.

In the case of the United States, there have been several key programs beginning with the "Bracero" program that lasted from 1942 to 1964. There was a lot of fraud in it too. There is one pending law suit on it.

There have been other, smaller temporary programs. Among the current programs are the H-1B program, H-2A, and H-2B. H-2A is an agricultural program. H-2B is a non-agricultural program. Both are temporary and seasonal in nature. H-1B is a temporary program that permits employment of high-skilled workers

Just use it and enforce it. Expand it as needed.
illegal go to the bank, cash their payroll checks, buy money orders and send most of it home to Mexico. That is a fact for a large part of it. Those that get paid cash do the same.

Sore subject to me and the BIL family too.

I am sorry to offend any one. Just me 2 cents, you can keep the change. I have said that for years too.
