OUT OF CURIOUSITY DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO IS RUNNING THE MOST HORSE POWER TO A STOCK CHEVY LUV REAR END? I KNOW THE V8 GUYS HAVE YOUR FORD 9" OR 10 BOLTS BUT WHO IS STILL RUNNING A STOCK REAR END WITH A SWAP? DOESNT HAVE TO BE A V8, JUST ANY NON 1.8L. WHAT IS THE MOST HP A STOCK REAR END CAN TAKE? WHO OUT HERE PUSHES THE LIMITS? :ebiggrin

My last luv was a 425hp 383 stroker, two speed power glide, 3500 stall with the stock rearend. Totalled the truck before I the rearend gave out.

did you have to have a driveshaft custom made for that application?

Check out the videos that Ben posted way back in 2002. The black one with the scoop belonged to Michael Van Horn. He had a 383 with a TH400 and a stock rear.

Ok so it all can be done with a stock rear end. Then my question is why in the "beer budget" swap article on the main page does it say you need a 1982-95 S-truck rear end? Is this to simply avoid the custom driveshaft as it also states to use a 1970-80 Camaro driveshaft?

No, it's because even a spindly 7.5 rear is stronger that the stock exploder, er... I mean Isuzu rear. The stocker will live for a while, after a few good hooks however...

if you can make a 12 bolt isuzu rear end from a truck or trooper with a 2.6 fit.
its much much stronger than a 10 bolt isuzu

this is info i have gotten from many posts on here and isuzupup.com
(so to the best of my ability its right)
for a 10 bolt isuzu 3.42 3.73 4.11 4.55
only the 4+2 MPG+ diesel modle had the 3.42, i dont think any gas pups had 3.42s
only 4+2 had 3.73
all 4+4s pups had 4.11s (only) with 4 speed trans, 81 to 85
exsept 86, 87 there was a 4+4 5 speed in those years, as well as the 4 speed.
same 4+4 trans as a trooper, only a diffrent bell housing and starter on other side.
depending on wether its a diesel or gas
86, 87 pups 4+2 had 5 speeds with 3.73 most of the time, there are some 4.11s
all troopers had the 4.55
one exsepshon,
there are about 200, 87 trooper diesels with 4.11 gears.

for a 12 bolt isuzu 4.11 4.30 4.55 4.77
i have not heard of any 3.73 in a 12 bolt
all isuzu trucks had 4.11s, 4+2 and 4+4 (though this may be rong). some may be 4.55
in 1989 or so there was a RS modle trooper with 4.77s and 31\10.50\15, short weel base with rear LSD
any trooper made from 88 to 91 can have a factory rear LSD.
the code is G80 for the LSD
the 4.30 was in the troopers with the DI gas engine.

thats all i can remember from my head.

i blew up 2 isuzu 10 bolts with a g200. first one lost teeth on the ring and the second one broke a spider, the carrier pin and trashed the ring and pinion.
