yup.. im in oklahoma...
I just bought a 78 LUV from another member on here who lives down in Norman....

I used to have a little s10 (98 2.2L) and about 4 of us pretty much took over a forum simular to this.. it was alot of fun and I still go back from time to time just to see whats up

I missed my s10.. and wanted another, but when I got looking around... a LUV sounded alot more fun

The bottom end fell out of the stock truck... so its time for it to get upgraded and it needs a little body work..

Image

The first day when I picked it up really sucked.... I couldnt find my friends who have a car trailer, so I went to U-Haul to rent one..... after 3 different trailers that didnt have lights that worked I ended up driving across town to try another u-haul...
Finally after all that mess it got worse!

Paid for the LUV.... and when we were pushing it up on the trailer..... the door shut on me before I could jump in... well the front of the truck fell.... the left tire haning off the edge and the right tire in between the ramps.

I drove all the way home like that.... cussing all the way

After 2-3 hours of putting blocks under the tires, two jacks, numurous 2 by 4's, several 4 by 4 posts and I kid you not... 60-70 mph winds... Me and a friend got the truck back on the trailer...

The only damage.... to the already rusted up rocker pannel... so it didnt do any damage..... woo hoo!

I am new to the group and to Luv trucks. Sounds like you uhaul trailer experience was as interesting as mine. Found that runners are fine but ramps are a little narrow. The truck looks pretty good but, I am kinda partial to primed or rat rod style. Another welcome from Texas.

Well I got a few looks and even got to meet a nice look'n gal that lives down the street today... Only one person was like WTF are you doing.

What was I doing? I was washing the 50lbs of mud, rust and greese off of it. It only took two washes and one bottle of soap, the whole bottle. lol
Still has some greese build up on it... but oh well, Ill worry about that later

OKC huh. Im on Tinker afb. Cool to see someone close by with a luv. My truck is down in wichita falls TX right now but i should have it up in ok in about 2 months. They always look like crap when you first start but the end results are well worth the pain.
This is actually a lot better than what i started with.

Cool. Im with AWACS in the 960th living in the dorms  . We're down in Ecuador right now. Thats why i got to wait to bring my truck up, and yep had to do the V8 swap. Could'nt have done it any other way. Oh. and on the L88 hood, Watch out cuz i was'nt too happy with mine at all. They did a pretty crappy job making it. Lots of defects but who knows, mabe i was just unlucky. I still luv the look of it though.
Heres a pic of my motor.
