the rearend in the pup finally gave up. its been making noise now for about a month, which got really bad last week when i had to drive it to work.

ive found out now, that the weak point in the isuzu rearend is the pinion. ive sheared all the teeth off of mine. i can put the truck in gear, and it wont go anywhere. the driveline just spins, and i can hear a faint clinking sound.

so now i have to drive my stepdads 66 gmc to work on wednesday. damn gas hog.

i guess this is my sign to start tearin the pup apart for the rebuild, and get the luv on the road. and figuring i get paid on monday, thats just whats going to happen.

im gonna tear this rearend apart this time to see what i did to it. ill be sure to take pictures of the carnage!!

I have three words to describe you , and I've never even met you.

HARD ON PARTS!!!!

At least you have a GMC to borrow. It could be worse, like a Yugo or something.

I don't know why but I got a big grin on my face right now, and I think you just like to get your hands dirty! I bought a box of disposable gloves. They're alright, and make wash up a breeze. I think you better upgrade your rear end and make it last!!!! I guess why you don't go too far, you tear up your machines!!! I hope you get it going.

I reckon it sure does explain why FullaLuv's been seen a lot lately in those pictures he keeps posting of himself all hunkered down inside the body of his truck with a goofy look on his face...lol

Thank you all for being so discerning while we all are mechanics working on the differentials, try to differentiate between a rear end on a vehicle and a buttock on a person. I didn't smile in that last photo and it was cuz I wanted to be like you Taz!

Quick Farmer, get some photos of the devastation! These boys need some thing to look at.

yeah, i think im goin to go with a 4.10 geared s10 rearend. i was thinking about a 3.73 geared axle, but that might be a little steep for my likings.

but the new motor for the pup is in the works now. i ordered the re-ring, and main kit for the impulse g200. itll be here on wednesday. im going to be getting another g180 head from a local guy, thats in alot better shape than the one i have. plus ill have another core cam.

so its all going now. by this time next month, the engine will be rebuilt, the pup will have a a new fender and door, and the luv will also be on the road.

S10 rear?????? Your straying away from the Isuzu path   you know the 12 bolt could be had with 4.30 gears right?

8O With a gear that steep yould have to run a pretty tall tire to tame them enough to keep the RPMs down through the traps.

well i have or had 410s already, and i like them alot. they work well for the rpms of the engine. that and i have a 4 speed thatll be changed out for a 5 speed. so ill have a shorter 1st gear again.

so 410s itll be.

4:10s are a good choice. Alot of people dont like them on a street car but I thought they were alright on my old Trans Am.

well right now wit the 410s, a 4 speed, and 22.5inch tall tires, i can do 55 at 3200 rpms. im still keeping the 410s, but going with a 5 speed, and somethin like a 25-26inch tall tire. so ill have bottom end out the ass, and still be able to go 75 down the freeway.

oh yeah. i had to move the truck forward in the yard today, and the rearend is basically locked solid. it took me and 2 other guys to move the damn thing. the insides of that thing are gonna be tasty. 8O

mkay. ive got a lead locally on a trooper 12bolt with disc brakes.

what gears is it going to be? what gears could it be? 4.30,4.56,4.88,5.13?

i could deal with 4.30s but i dont think any much more would work. ill have to find out what year it was again, but im thinkin about getting the rearend, and the master cylinder also to help with the rear discs.

rez, where are ya!!??

man, 4:10's on the street, with a 1:1 final drive.. 22" tall tire. that little 4 banger must be SINGING at 65 mph. i thought i had it rough with 3:73's and a 28" tall tire. with more compression i could actually pull more vacuum at 3k. man i want some vortec heads.

sorry bro, little late

if it's out of a manual tranny vehicle then it's got 4.56's. if it's a auto more than likey has the 4.30's...unless the vehicle in question was a 4 banger or 2wd(not many were 2wd)

I'm about 100% sure it would have 4.56's then
