Not a luv topic but since luvs can use an s-10 rear what can I put in my s 10 rear. I want a locker or will any ford nine inch go in and bolt up without much trouble.Probably will not narrow it either. This will strictly be for a race truck though.
Are there any 12 bolts that will go in. Definately want a posi or locker.

I don't know of a cheap bolt in. I personally like a 9 inch myself.

Do you want cheap or in expensive? Try 8.8 out of Ford explorers,MustangII and Pinto 8",early Bronco,Mustang,Mavericks,Comets,Granadas for the 9"If you cant find the 9" you want(the best setup)then look for the 8.8" next as there are a lot of them out there and have posi's already. The 8" is stronger that the S10 rear (not by a whole lot though) and has gear choices and it's a drop out.A lot depends on tire size and power as the axles will come in to play next. Good luck

Actually a friend of mine has a junk yard and has an mercury comer out there. Wonder if it is a nine inch also. What about the isuzu 8 and 3/4. My luv had one in it till I swapped it out for the s-10.

The 8" for is almost as tough as the 9" ford . Don't over look it .

Going top a swap meet tomorrow. Will see what I can find pretty much already set up. Sure would like 4:88 gears. I know I should go ahead and tubb it and use coil overs but will stick with leafs for now. That way maybe I can have a baseline to go by and see my improvements as it goes.
I really just need to give up on my 79 luv or gohaead and scrap the s 10 and make my luv an all out race truck but it is so damn fun to drive on the street.

yours is tubbed right. If i could do it myself I would move my tires in about 4 inches on each side. doesn't really look all that hard from the forum link. Just time consuming.
