...since getting my truck, I have been the stickler for keeping the 1.8L motor in my truck. That was until today. I went to a yard that I know of and the guy had a "mostly rebuilt" 231 Buick that he would sell me for $200. He said that when they put it back together and into the Toyota that it is in now, one of the cylinders was making "some noise". Well, what do you guys think? I also want 4x4 capability, and the 350 tranny that is with the motor right now is not 4 wheel drive. It is either this, an overbored motor from the guy that Ben posted for in the Classifieds for $600 (which my Grandparents will tow from MN for me in the fall), or a $100 complete 1.8L block that I found locally in need of a rebuild. Damn, I think I trapped by the thought of the V6. Help!

Any 231 4x4 guys here? What are you using for a tranny?

Thanks!

well i hate to say it.....but if you wanna retain the 4x4...go with the 1.8. it will be much cheaper and easier than the 231
