Don't believe that high pressure pump is going to have anything to do with crankcase pressure. :(

No? Ok that’s why I ask I am no engine builder that’s for sure. I mean this is the first one I ever tore apart, well 2nd first one I took apart had to have someone’s put back together I had no clue gave him a bucket full of parts and got back a nice new motor. But this is the 1st one I ever put together

How much back pressure does the engine have? When the engine is idling are you getting blow back out of the valve cover? The harder you run the engine the more back pressure you are going to have. It may be that the tank will solve your oil problem. I don't know how hard you are running the engine.

If it wasn't happening before, why is it happening now? It can't be fixed with a simple oil tank if the problem is an impending breakdown. Make sure all your hoses are clear, especially the one having to do with egualizing the pressures. I hope you fix it before your wife has to take you out to the woodshed.

not at idle only if running hard or over 4k -6500 rpm and its not so much as oil dripping it get the fire wall damp and black not wet or dripping
and it has done this from day one its just I get tired of whipping it off every now and then not so much as a problem more of a nascence

Sounds like what you are getting is normal with those rpm's. Install the can and ride.

Someone else mentioned having the vent tube into the air-filter, rather than the vacuum line... that might be initially something to try. The vacuum line might have been creating to much "suck" and instead of just allowing the crankcase to vent, was trying to evacuate it...

Piping it to the airfilter housing will let the fumes evaporate into the system, but not pull the oil from the engine. Over a great deal of time it might get a little bit of a residue in the intake, but isn't that what carb & choke cleaner is for?

:)

The catch can would be cool for bling effect, though. You might be able to find something a little less flashy at a local parts supplier. I THOUGHT I'd read somewhere about those, and now I remember - Used to have a Toyota MR2, and some of the turbo'd MR2's in that club had those installed.

If you have your crankcase vent line connected to manifold vacuum it will most definitely suck oil into your intake system.

Hook your crankcase vent line up to a hand-held vacuum pump with some clear tubing, start your engine, pump it up to apply a little vacuum, and you will see.

Just use two vented caps on your valve cover, then plumb it into the air cleaner and it should all be fine.

They are made for older V8 and V6 valve covers and come in different connecting pipe sizes and have several different diameter grommet sizes, and they do make one that will fit right on. You should be able to find them at any auto parts store easily.

You can't really see it well in that picture, but my crankcase vent hose in my pan is gommeted into a hole I drilled into the bottom of my Wieand air filterhousing. It's hidden by the fuel line connections to my weber carb in that picture.

I used a short piece of reinforced rubber hose and a hose clamp to hold the back chrome cap next to the firewall on. I just cut the hose short enough, shoved it on untill the metal connecting tubes on the valve cover and the chrome cap were touching, and used the widest clamp I had on hand to hold it on...but I guess you could use two clamps if you are real rich and can afford them....lol

The front chrome cap was an exact fit and came with several different grommet sizes. They were both pretty cheap and can be cleaned when neccessary easily with any type of solvent and an air hose.

I was just too cheap and too lazy to go out and buy a new chrome cap for the back one...and it and the other stuff was laying around my shop already. On my new engine's valve cover, I'm going to cut off the back tube that sticks out, and size the hole there just like the front one, so I can use two identical ones with the same height.

BTW...catman:

I can see how that could be a problem...especially out in your garage with greasy hands...lol

I already got one and my offy intake is on order...and I'm seriously goin' nutso waitin' for it all to get done.

When I get my kid's Honda back on the road that has some bad valve guides, fix my little $250.00 Geo Metro for my business that needs a transmission, then I'm going to be busy as hell working on my truck for about 3 weeks reducing the big pile of parts and accessories stacked all over my garage that are driving me crazy every time I go in there.

Then I get to tackle putting in all the cool stuff I'm going to put inside my 1978 Ford shorty 14 passenger school bus that I've already re-done all the running gear on. It's going to be mine, the wifey, and my good ole' dog Ralph's run-away-for-the-weekend vehicle. I've already gutted it and painted it outside and inside.

When it's done, it's gonna have a nice little brass and porcelain wood stove, a big soft double bed, a full kitchen with a gas stove and a double stainless sink, a nice fridge, nice carpeting and tile floors, a TV/DVD combo that is cable-ready, a killer cd player/mp3 player/satellite radio stereo system, a wireless laptop, an x-box with plenty of games, and my personal favorite...a mini fridge that is converted into a portable beer tap complete with a CO2 tank to keep the beer from going flat, that will hold 2 mini kegs.

The wife and I already have a huge 3-room tent for people to hang out in and a big screen tent so anyone can eat outside without bugs pestering them, so we are gonna try to do some travelin' and visitin' places in style...now that the kids are all grown and gone.

And yes, all of our neighbors think we have both lost our minds...but do we care?

Not much...lol

Now you all know Tazman and Nancie are the kind of friends you want to have for life! I got a tent and some sleeping bags, an ice chest, and a fishing pole.
