I have a pretty good start on a LUV project. I just picked up a 78 stepside that isn't in bad shape but the engine compartment looks like it might make a better V8 conversion instead of what I want to do with it. My plan is to use it as fuel efficient daily driver. Unless, it is known I will not get the 30miles/gal that I am expecting. Then it becomes a street warrior!!! The wiring has all been disconnected, A/C lines removed and it looks like all that is left is to remove the eng. Well, I have it now and I still want to remove the engine but I have another (new) 1.8 to put back in it. I have purchased a Haynes book off of Ebay in hopes that that will allow me to put it back together, but I know that there will be some things that I will have to find out the hard way. If anyone can give their wiring expertise with a stock truck that would be great! Also, I want to convert my single head light to the dual head light. Thanks in advance!!!!!

well as far as the singles to duals, you are gonna have to find a dual headlight wireharness to use. Now where are you gonna mount the headlights? Do you have a dual headlight front clip? If not, where were you planning on mouting them? On the wiring issue, I always label wires and plugs with masking tape and a marker or something. As far as putting it back in the truck after the engine work is done, I would just try to lay the harness where it should go, and plug things in where they lay. In my luv, the factory only gave enough wire for the plug to barely reach the component it went to. If you break a wire like me, you may have to splice in a new section of wire just to be able to repair the break, and still reach the component. Hope some of this helps.

Thanks for the reply, but I do not have any wires attached or connected to anything. This is the way that I got the truck and I have never touched a Luv before so I do not know what or how it should be. I do know the common things like the alt needs power and the starter. And that the batt supplies it. That type of this is understood but I do not know where the wires were removed from so I am feeling SOL!

The repair manual I have for my truck gives you wire colors. Each wire in a luv truck is colorcoded. This project may actually be easier than you think if no one has butchered the wire harness. The book can tell what color wire goes where. Then you can locate that part in the book and see a pic of it. Then you just have to plug it in. Most of the components have plugs, and what doesn't should have a spade connector or something like that. Good luck and if you need help, you are in the right place. :D

And on the headlight thing, after thinkin on it for a few days, I would keep the singles if I were you. Half the amount of bulbs to buy, No headache involved with trying to modify the body and stuff to put duallies on it. And you can sit around in the garage and drink while staring at the luv and NOT trying to mod something :D
