... i'm in!!! But, i didn't get AECF like i wanted, or cryptology, or anything else i wanted......... but........ I GOT NUKE!!!! THE TOP JOB IN THE NAVY!!!! I'll be working on nuclear reactors on aircraft carriers or subs. if i wanted to, but who wants to feel like a sardine. It'll take a year and 3 months of training after my 8 weeks of B.C. Which i ship out for on the 7th of Feb. so i'll be here for a bit longer... but you can deal with it can't you? lol....

Wish me luck, now to get some sleep in and start a bit of pre-training sometime next month.

Cool!

I've always been fascinated by nuclear power. Kinda scary but very interesting.

I imagine you won't be able to talk too much about it though. :(

Welp, it's that time, I leave this tues. for boot camp, finnally my life is starting! This is the job in the nuke field i'm pushing for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machinist%27s_Mate, I talked to a master cheif and he said if I want machinist mate I have a 95% chance of getting it... he also said to stay away from ET's and EM's, they're "twigits". At least I won't have to worry about bills for a while, all the people I know that went through boot camp had about 2k in the bank after they got out.

Learning to be a machinist's mate will give you an excellent career opportunity on the outside, especially if you are still into racing and fabricating when that time comes. Basic, and training, will kick your butt for a while, but the rewards you get for the rest of your life, are well worth it. Congratulations!

I always wished I could have gone into the military. I don't have the hearing. Well go for it, Finalman, and make it the best that you can.

There are three brothers that are in the military, there last name is Hegemeyer. Nathan is a Navy requiter in the Katy-Houston are. Clayton is in the Airforce. Bryan is a instructor at the Nuke School. They went to school with my son. I work on their moms computer.
Good luck with your, see the world hobby 8)

You should see Bryan at nuke school. His mom is Carol and dad is Junior, Eddie. Tell him every one says Hi from New Ulm...

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Thanks for posting the better picture of you. It's a lot better than the one you're using for your avatar!

You made an excellant choice. I retired in 1974 as a chief photo mate after 20 years. Would do it again in a minute. (age permitting) good luck. JohnP
