I'm having a brain fart here.

Do I use a silicone on the intake manifold or put it on dry?
I know the carb and the exhaust manifold go on dry, but can't recall about the intake.

The 2 silicones I have are orange and grey. They both say not for contact with gas, so I know I would need another kind if I am supposed to use any.

Dry...always.

And unless it is sealing something in your engine that has coolant passing through it (like a water pump or thermostat)...don't use silicone.

Silicone doesn't work well around parts that come in contact with fuel or oil. It either doesn't seal or it pollutes the system.

That intake has a port in it for coolant to go through, since the thermostat housing is in it, just make sure it cures for 24hr b4 you start it.

I have always used "the right stuff" black silicone on all gaskets of all engines I build (gas and diesel) except head gaskets. It is expensive but I like it and use it on race engines every day. I guess it is up to the builder but I can not stand leaks of any kind and with the right stuff I do not have them. I even used the stuff on engines I built working at every dealership I worked at.

The front cover on my Buick motor is silicone only no gasket and still don't leak and i redid the motor in 86.Don't get me wrong there is a place for the stuff but to many people think that a little is good allot is better and that i have seen first hand rebuilding motors that some idiot used 1or even 2 shop size tubes putting the motor together. The problem most people don't see is silicone will stick to clean metal forever but will fall of a gasket then plug up the oil system.
