Some of you may know and some may not I crew chief a USAC 410 sprint car, 4 360 sprint cars and 2 Focus midgets. My season starts tomorrow with practice/shakedown of our all new fleet. I finished up tuning the 410 and left the shop and had left instructions to the crew of how I wanted the trailers loaded tonight. On the way home I found myself thinking about the upcoming season and my mind wondered to NASCAR. I am going to miss BP this year. BP lost his life last month to lung cancer. Some of you may not know who BP is, his name is Benny Parsons and was most recently a announcer for NASCAR. BP was much more then that, he was a champion of many levels of NASCAR and ARCA. One thing I admired about BP was he knew all of the trivia questions that came up on Sunday's. Well not all, anything that shined a light on his racing day's he "forgot" about. He never wanted to talk about his victory's or his championships. I can't remember him belittling any driver on any broadcast. Well that was just a thought I had on the way home from the race shop tonight. God speed BP, I will miss you every Sunday.

Hey you go win some races!! I'd really like to know more about your racing and if you'll ever be in Washington. I hope you keep safe, but go faster than the guy in front of you. If any of your events are televised it would be interesting to know which car you are and if you are the driver or what. I would watch for you if I knew these facts.

He is the crew chief. He does not drive the car. I don't know about any of it being televised, he would have to answer that.

I will miss BP also. He made a great announcer.

Ron is correct, I am just a crew chief. I get to call the shots on the car set up, motor and everything else but I do not drive, the car owner drives and it takes a healthy check book to do that, about 175K per year. We do have some televised races usually on the outdoor channel, when they come up I will let you guys know. By the way we were second fast today and that is great being this was the first time this car and motor ever hit the track. I have enough info and notes now to do some changes during the week for the first race next week.
