Hello again, and thank you for the warm welcome. After back reading, and taking a closer look at the truck. I'm going to go ahead and take on the project. turns out its a mikado. the more i look at it. the more I like it. as it happens I have a 305 on the floor of the shop. the truck and the engine have been eyeballing each other.....errr, maybe its just me. anyway, to be realistic its going to have to be a stock or near stock application. I just don't have the time or space to take on another ground up build. that said, its posiable that I may find myself in an overhaul situation. In that case, no red blooded american boy (that I know anyway) would be able to refrain from at least tuning it up a little. ie. cam, intake, weber, header etc. that would look something like this. g200 rebuild, g180 head into 79 mikado 4x4 4speed. if anyone has this application and would be willing to share any pitfalls you encountered Id sure appreciate it. thanx in advance E.

Update; Got a line on a 1.8& automatic out of a 1980 2wd today. the guy's out of town, so I'll catch up with him thurs. Also there's a complete 1981 4x4 in a yard about 25 miles from here. I'll go check that out as time permits. maybe tomorrow. still got alot of work to do, running down service manuals and such. I'll start looking in phoenix as sone as the current phone book gets here, and update at the next posting. in a week or so. see ya. E.

ps. sure like the spell check here. I can't spell for shite. haha

I have both the factory manual and the Haynes manual if in you need pages copied or what not. and as far as engines for 4x4's goes do a search for posts by either myself or 800xl, topic has been gone over more than a few times
