Well, I went over to the FAB shop yesterday...
He has cleared the plates off the housing and indexed the housing to check for trueness.
The backside of the housing is now having a custom made rear truss box made for it; a unit much stronger than the aftermarket units one can buy.
I went overkill on this thing; why? I dunno, because we could I guess...We had the opportunity to do so so we did it! :?
We have designed it to fit within the inside dimensions of the LUV spring locations; so no issues at all.
After that is done, we will incorporate a breather fitting; adjust the fill location, and then set the new spring perches on.
So far they have yet to arrive from the machine shop.
Any day now I hope.
Once that is here we will try out our newly purchased pinion angle gauge assembly.
I, along with the FAB guy, will assemble this all ourselves.
This will be my first rear axle build.
I am restless to complete this.
Pics will be posted once I remember to bring my camera next time... :x

Thanx!
I am still awaiting my spring perches....its rather frustrating awaiting on those who dont fulfill their end of things, IMO!

the pinion angle was tough for me to set . I ended up 6* off and had to use wedge plates . I had never set one up before .

6* ?
ooops

Perches arrived today, off to the shop for set-up attempts.
Ordered a pinion gauge, grade 8 carrier studs, and a new pipe vent fitting for the housing.
Seems Im ready to go to set this all up!
I will post some pics maybe later with some updates of the progress.

Well, what a long past two weeks this has been! :(
Delays as always in receiving things.
The housing is all jigged up.
We have a fixed tool to mount the housing to make planetary dimensions with for bracketry and pinion stuff.
Pinion angles and flanges we can now install and measure;

Thanx Luvsadrag and Juan! 8)

What an advance for me to say. I never thought I'd ever do rear axle stuff!
So, once we fit the housing into the stock leaf stuff, we will remeasure it all to double check our findings.
After that the welds will be finished off and I will tank the housing prior to assembly.
The carrier and new posi unit will be assembled and once installed, we will measure for axle needs for being made.
I think I have the hang of it now!
We have a rather grand view of all of this that something is now in the works.
We will keep you informed on our advances!

Right now I have a 15 X 7 rim, tires yet to be determined.
Once we have the axle measurement figured out, I need to look at the brake system and offset allowance.
Then I can play around with tire and rim width.

YUPP !!!

It's all engineered to drop in!

From Drums to Discs, YES!

We even got the drum conversion to connect to the factory LUV cable system.

Been alot of R&D in doing this!
