Is the motor stock? The main reason to get rid of the stock axle is because it only comes in 4.10 or 4.56 gear ratio. Other than that, it's a pretty durable axle.

You might concider getting a 4WD Luv instead of trying to build one from a 2WD. But if you're going the ULTIMATE route, you can pretty much do anything you want. Take a look around at some of the stuff thats being built on this site. It'll give you an idea of what you gotta do and how to go about it.
What kind of bikes do you have?

i think this guy come close to having the "ultimate" 4x4 http://www.luvtruck.com/Gallery/MarkMon ... index.html

there was also the member that has a solid axle front end under his luv, and was putting a 350 in w/ the radiator mounted in the bed

Lowkat has that killer setup he's building in his truck. His pics aren't showing up but that looks like he's got an ULTIMATE project comming together.

If you whant a bad ass set up, get the drive train form a K-5 blazer (full size) have the axles choped down and resplined to 31, regear em to 4:10 run some 35" tires and drop in a 350. Thats my dream luv...

I really like Mark Montana's truck. Every time I see it, I start thinking about spending some "real" money on my truck. Dangerous for the old marriage though...
...Maybe when I sell the bike...hmmmmm...

I think I might start looking for the solid front axle though. In another post someone mentioned the Toyota SR22, another hmmmmm.

Hey chevys, Well if you want to put a solid axle in it remember you have to put matching gears in both so if you get a toyo front end and it has 3.73 gears than it won't work with you LUV rear axle. I'm in the middle of putting front and rear axles from a 74 Jeep J 20 under mine(There alittle bigger than toyota's) There is alot to do (Suspension, Steering, Brakes) But it will be worth it. If you find some matching axles and some help(You've come to the right site for that) anything is possible. As for lifting it you can do the torsion bars(lots of posts on that). And what Sytem (System?) do you mean? keep the questions comin. Hope this helps...

Dave
