looks like the whole neighborhood likes cars too. i see a nova in the neighbors driveway.

thats my friends moms's car. we got that sucker for $500. it has a 307 with a tired power glide. inside the garage is my friends 11 sec 64 nova and i think his brother's 64 falcon. they use their moms garage to store the hot rods when not in use. my friend grew up in a hot rod family.

update...
ok i had to set up a couple of late night street races before i took this thing down to the body shop and left it there for week + so my friend set up a race between me and a supercharged Cobra a few nights ago and i absolutely drug his azz. anyway i was screwing around on the return road and i double clutched just to see if it would spark the tires at a 35mph roll and then i started rowing gears. well... I missed 3rd (DAMN HURST SHIFTER!!!) and a valve spring let go. Yesterday i swapped the spring out, and NOW its off to the body shop. good thing i didnt do that during the race. that would have been embarassing if i took a loss that way.
More pics coming as soon as its back from the shop.

the carnage from race night

I guess these LS1/6 motors are notorious for breaking springs and bending push rods.

I was pretty surprised... that it did that. the rev limiter is pretty tight in these cars (6600 I think). I did bang the limiter on the return road but it wasnt the first time and that really isnt much RPM. still, vettes have a reputation for doing that kind of thing and mine is no exception.

In any case the factory replacement is a beehive type spring... thats all the dealership has for a replacement part so that valve is the only one in the bank that has a beehive. I think i am going to replace them all with Isky Gold springs at some point in the near future.

Go with the beehive spring it is a good long lasting, and durable spring that you will probably never see again .(I hate working on my own stuff)
