If you have a dremel tool and a small toothed ball, it is possible to repair the 2-wire sensor. Carefully grind away at the epoxy around the two wires, until you are down a bit, less than 1/8th ". This will give you enough to solder new wires to. Be sure to secure the new wires very well, as fatigue from vibration is what broke them in the first place.
I have done this with success. Be patient, take your time. It helps to be fairly adept at soldering, but is isn't very difficult.
Of course, replacing it is a better cure, but 1) I couldn't locate parts around here, 2) I didn't have to drain the coolant at all, and 3) it didn't cost me anything to make this repair and keep the old truck on the road.
Call me cheap, but if I don't have to buy anything to fix something, and the fix is good, I'll do it.
