Well I can't do anything with the engine until I get the tools. I tried to get them around here, and after a couple fruitless searches, I went online and found a cylinder hone and now I have to wait for it to get here. The horrible thing about it is I decided I didn't want to go with the straight stone and I ordered a flex hone this morning. So now the wait starts over. The straight stone is supposed to arrive tomorrow, but I might not even use it. In the meantime, as you can see, I'm finding other things to do. I want to do some of these things while there is easier access to some areas, like the firewall. I found myself wishing I'd cleaned it after getting the engine running. It was still filthy. This time around there's these things to do, and I'm finding them, so that's a good thing. I still haven't looked at any wheel bearings, or brakes. I haven't even checked the tire pressure!!!! I haven't cranked the spare tire down, or put some of the parts on that I got from that eloquent Southern gentleman, BlackLuv80. So I ain't bein' idle!!!!

I also am waiting for my rings and rod bearings, and I'm going to order the main bearings and install them without removing the crank. Watch me!!

It's never horrible when you buy tools unless they're of bad quality. It's a drag when you obtain a new tool and someone borrows it BEFORE you get to use it. This comes up alot in my field of work.
As long as you work the jobs to your personal standards, then that's how it got to be. You'll be the one that drives down the road in it. A smooth, clean running engine will put a smile on your face even at the gas pump.
Once you get the tools lined up, you'll focus on the motor again.

Exactly right. The dingle berry hone is made by Flex-Hone®. I found one on eBay in the original unopened package for $36.99 plus shipping. I copied this from eBay...

This brand new sealed in package engine cylinder flex-hone is for 3.00 to 3.50" cylinder bores. Perfect for for all engine types and block materials. The hone is made by the one of the best cylinder hone manufacturers, FLEX-HONE®. The hone is 240 grit, EXCELLENT for reringing jobs or final bore. The actual tool is 3.500" diameter. This patented Flex-Hone is the best way to create a Cross Hatch surface finish with suspended globule working abrasives. Contact us for more information as we use this hone on all of our race motors. Most of the engine hone articles reference this exact brand and type of tool.
THIS TOOL HAS THE LONG SHAFT for engine rebuilding.

ITEM IS BRAND NEW NEVER REMOVED FROM FACTORY PACKING, Inquire about other sizes/grits..
Buyer to pay $5.95 PRIORITY shipping USA .

With a 3.30XX bore size, that hone is perfect for your repair.

I glued the wiper pivot shaft bracket together with JBWeld. After it was cleaned up and greased, it fit together easily. I replaced the snap ring, and used weatherstripping glue to hold the old gasket in place, then added Ultra Black Permatex® to fill the gap. I'm going to let it set for a day, and put it back in the LUV with more Ultra Black. This time I'll add grease to the rubber boot, replace the wiper arm, and then put the heater unit back in with Ultra Black around the heater core tube grommets. At least I cleaned the heater up, and it should look better when I take an interior photo!!! The wipers should be a lot quieter, as well as not leak.

I'm waiting for the engine parts and tools... :microwave:

Today I hope to get in there and put this repaired wiper spindle back in. I got the cylinder hone, only now I've decided to use the flex hone, which is on it's way...

Hey FullaLuv:

Your plastic repair job looks good. My dad swears by JB Weld but for plastics used in cars I really like the POR 15 Epoxy.

Click on the link below to see how I repaired my 1940 Cadillac antenna. This was a bakelite product (the predecessor to plastics) but it still worked great and was machinable when done.

Hey! I got the new rod bearings delivered today. They're made in Australia!!!

Eric, I have a box of the POR-15 epoxy. I got it with the POR-15 floorpan kit that I used last October. I tried to find a photo of the epoxy, but there is illustrated the way I miss so many photo ops and why I'm clicking the shutter so much this time around. I might think I overdo it sometimes, and some have said so, but in the end the pictures are great to look at, and share. I looked at your repaired antennae, and I thought you did an excellent job. For the wiper spindle bracket, I think JBWeld was the better adhesive. I bet Nascar_44 $2 it'll last at least a year, so I'm expectin' to have that to spend next Christmas!! The POR-15 is more solid and thus was the right choice for your repair. Is your antennae still up?

I just remember I didn't take a photo of the POR-15 kit because it was on the web and I put a link to it on an earlier post.

The JBWeld didn't hold it when I tried to mount it. Aw shucks, I ain't gonna cry; just tell me where to send it, or collect it when ya get here. I already have the air fresheners!! :smt119

The JBWeld was pretty, and Eric I wish I'd added the POR-15 on the top of it, but oh well, I put it on when the JBWeld flaked off. I put a whole walnut-sized gob of it on. I was going to photograph it, but put it in already! I can photograph it anytime just by pulling out the ashtray. It went in, but I don't know yet if it's a success until I run the wipers, and that won't be until I rebuild the engine, so wait. If it doesn't hold I'll get one From BlackLuv or the guy Eric pointed me to.

We had a nice Christmas and I hope everyone else did too. Today I put the heater back in, and that was not easy. I don't fit in the space between the seat and the door opening at the floor level. I got it done though. I got the dingle berry hone today. I cleaned the grooves on the pistons with a half-ring, and used a nylon pad to clean the surfaces. I'm still waiting for the rings and main bearings.

Please tell me that you marked the pistons and rod caps so they'll go back together in the same spots?
