How did you guys from Washington hold up? I saw it on the news tonight and it looked pretty bad. There was a guy trying to ride his bike but the wind had different idea.

FullaLuv: Sounds good. I will keep in touch and let you know more when we know more.

Eric Q.: Richland is a very nice place. I have an uncle that lives there.

Hope everything came out ok for you guys after the storm.

Hey Eric,

The top tarp actually had the 2x4 holding it fall down and the tarp was bunched up over the truck. I was up at 4 AM putting the tarp back, so I don't think any of my neighbors saw it. It's back up and a good quality, so no harm done.

The power went out here once for about five seconds, and another time for about a minute. Lots of flickers though, and everytime it did that made my modem reset, and I would lose my connection. It made me mad!!! Well better that than a tree on my head. Or a flash flood in the basement. Sorry about the circumstances of some people out there.

It's supposed to ice up again. Hope you're warm enough. Come on over if you need to.

FullaLuv:

I appreciate the offer to shack up with you if needed but I live close enough to town that they don't let the electricity stay out for too long. And a while back I put in a natural gas fireplace that doesn't require electricity so it is a nice backup. Won't heat the whole house but the room it's in stays warm.

We faired well overall. No lost shingles or trees down.

Back on the topic of Richland, I got my first job out of school in Richland working for the Department of Energy. When the company I was working for lost the contract they moved me to Seattle. My wife still hasn't completely forgiven me.

later all you Washingtonions...

Just an update from a washingtonian...

I just spent two days without power...luckily I bought a couple of 12 volt to 110 power converters a while back for a 1978 shorty school bus that I'm tricking out as a motor home...since it has dual batteries and a high output alternator I was able to hook up my freezer and run it for several hours each day and save my food fom spoiling.

My wood stove and a big supply of candles and glow-sticks got us through the cold dark nights...and we were able to go over to my daughters and shower and get a hot meal each day...since she still had power..

Since my shop was down ..I spent the day running around in my truck with my chainsaw playing good samaritan helping others in my area get downed trees and limbs out of the way.

Man..that was one helluva windstorm! It sure is good to have the power back on...that's for damn sure.

I hope all of the other folks here came out OK.

I'm coming to ya from both sides, Tazman!! The advice you gave me was real awesome and cool, your site is real sophisticated, and everbody should know they can go to you for computer answers, as well as LUV expertise. The WMP 11 did install, but still won't make a sound. I got the old bookmarks in an .html file on my desktop, but didn't succeed with the overwriting because I think I didn't know where to put it.

BlackLuv80 needs help getting his sound to work at all. I tried to help him over Messenger, but we didn't succeed.

I hope you had a good time with those glow sticks!!!! :!:

I lived in Auburn for a year then moved in April to Idaho and i don't miss the rain, did drive my LUV around a few time but i would get paranoid that somebody was going to total my truck so back to the garage i would go. I did go to the Nationals last year though,it was great.
