Anybody ever had this happen, when I start my truck as soon as you let the key return to the run position it dies. I replaced the ignition switch with the same results, any help would be appreciated

Your ignition ballast resistor is open. Located at the coil.

My best guess would be the ignition coil elect. The coil gets power two way's, 1) key start position 2) key run position. I would start by putting the key to the run position and check for coil power.

egg is on the right track. If the resistor checks out ok, check the connections on the fuse block.

I had this problem on my 80 LUV. It was the ballist resister. Try replacing that and it should work.

Make sure you clean every single connection at the fuse block because that is the main source of electrical problems with every Luv. Mine did the same thing when I first got it and it nearly drove me bonkers.

Once I went through all of my connections and chased down all of my grounds and cleaned them ...it never happened again.

Classic symptom of a bad ballast resistor. Ask any old Mopar guy!
