I just got the movie on DVD and i think it's a great movie for what it is. Sure it's corny and it's made to steer kids in the right direction and all, but all the subtle automotive homework done to get even the finest details is what got me.
If you haven't seen it, go out of your way to watch the movie.

I thought it was an awesome movie. I watched it with my 10 month old daughter. That way, I had a good excuse.

My buddy (truck driver) got it for his kids and really liked it also. To show me his new big screen, he put it in for a while. I went home and told my wife how cool the movie was so she bought it for me.

Your right. They really did their home work on that one. I won't get in to it all now, but there are a lot of accuracies in the truck and travel and I40 / Route 66 references.
IE... If a truck driver ever tells you he has never followed a shinny tanker and turned on all his lights and stared at himself in the reflection,, he's a lying sack of you know what.

One of the best parts for me was Mack the big truck falling asleep, hitting the rumble strips, and then hearing his jake brakes come on... I have been there all to often.

Don't you drive a fuel truck with a crap load of gas?

Well this post has pushed me to rent the movie, I was on the fence.

That scene when the Mack was falling asleep with the 3 tuner cars and the blown Charger messing with him. Did you notice that the 3 tuner cars had modern, bright headlights and the Charger had dull, incandesent headlights?
It was stuff like this that had me very impressed with all the details.

Towards the end of the movie there's a race announcer up in the booth with 5 spoke rims and thin whitewall tires. I found myself saying "Man, those wheels look pretty good!"

And this is just a cartoon....

Yes.

But I haven't always done that. I drove cross country for a little while there, hauling non-explosives.

I liked seeing who were the voices.. Wow real NASCAR people.

Mater and Doc were the best.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Yea, Mater was perfectly suited to Larry the cable guy alright. It was hilarious when they were on the run after tractor tipping.

The detail that the movie went in, like at "Flo's Gas Station" There are spark plugs on the roof, eight of them, and they fire in I believe a flathead ford pattern. Small things like that make it an awesome movie.

Plus Mater rocks.

I need to look into the spark plug thing. The only thing i noticed about Flo's was the supports holding the roof over the gas pumps were connecting rods and piston skirts.

And in the old motel "The Wheel Well" there are bugs flying around and on the windows. . . .literally, they are mini VW Bugs, and the buzzing sound they make are the engines sounds sped up.

The Cadillacs in the ground are a tribute to the Cadallac Ranch in Amarillo Texas, which of course is along route 66.

I love that movie haha
