It has begun...
Axel out...new one coming.
Having the new posi installed and R/P set with the carrier.
Now we gotta notch the housing to fit it.
Then I need to order the axels...

FARMER...
That thing came out in a breeze!
The U-Bolt nuts were quite loose though...
Luckily it stayed in place!

I had some leaf spring wrap around the spring perches...that may be the reason this occurred... :(

Im going to use longer perches to hopefuly avoid this occurance in the future...but, i will need to see after I hit it a few times!

I have an extra set of factory leafs; I am having a new set patterned off of them, to lower it, and still keep the load range about the same, maybe a small bit higher in spring rate...we'll see 8)

RON, its yours anytime you want it! 8)

Once we get the diff center assembled this week, we will set the pinion angle.
Need to get it back to set it in on the new leafs and square up the chassis angle so we can set the leaf perches correctly.
Next I need the axels. Ive had help on this so I think my direction is sound from his advice!!!!
That said, then we can determine the rear rim width.
I wanted 7's on the rear but it really looks like I can fit a decent 8" inside that wheel well.
Im still messing around with Drum/Disc set-ups.
Its not all that difficult actually.
Its just my wheel bolt circle that is challenging me!
We'll see soon enough!

Im still deciding, I may go back to my original desires.
I need to get this axel done before I do more chassis mod's.
Was thinking of dumping some parts I have stashed away to get some extra cash flow.
I sold my 406/T-400 combo to my welder friend who put it in a 73 3/4 ton mild pre-runner. He still owes me that $$$ so at least I have something to start with...
I have about 1500.00 set aside for the front chassis mods.
So, I need to gauge the motor costs as to how much it will be in the end...
I havent ruled any motor out, yet!

well if money permits, a luvtruck member up here has a 30 over 4bolt main 350 shortblock that hes sellin for cheap. it needs rebuilt and a set of heads. if i can pull that off, itll go in the pup for a summer racer and go-fast get around. after racin all last season i dont know what id do if i didnt have anything to race. then if i pull the motor out ofthe pup, itll get rebuilt and then itll go in the luv to pull the pup to the track.

this is only if i can swing another job though.

Here's the new replacement housing!

pic update on page 3
....................................................................................................
UPDATE:
Today I messed around with the aftermarket rear sway bar to see how it would fit around my 9" housing. I did check the LUV spring lower plates and u-bolts to see if they would fit around the 9" housing axel tubes; so far Im in luck as the LUV u-bolts are 3" ID and the 9" I have the tubes are 3" OD at the leaf spring mounting points.
I am unsure who made this kit, maybe ctmandu knows, but here is a mock up of it just simply hanging from the frame u-bolts and set atop the housing. I think I will need to think about a different mount at the housing for the sway bar mounts at this location....

OK so here it is ....
Here's the cat out of the bagg:

I put off buying the DART block; having a simple 9:1 400 built.
Just a runner as we partake into massaging in the newer stroker motor:
434 it is!

So, for the chassis mods:
Here is what we are manufacturing:
Mustang II rack and pinion with a GM front suspension.
ALL LUV front suspension will be tossed!!!!
As for the A-Arms and spindles...
That is to come, buit we do have a whole system planned that will be a complete bolt in!
Ill keep ya'll posted on this.
The front mods begin 01-01-07

I have a completely rebuilt Isuzu Power Steering gear box that fits in the stock LUV location; for sale:$250.00 ready to run!
Also have a set of brand new Bilstein shocks for a stock LUV; part #s as needed! Best offer!

That rack and pinion setup sounds sick. Take lots of pictures 'cause I'm everyone here will want to have a look at it.

Good luck
