My 80 LUV has broke two (and I think the third is on it's way) distributers in the last couple months.
My question is, is there something down in by the oil pump that is supposed to be squirting oil up to the dist.?
The 1st one, the shaft broke just under the weights... The 2nd (used) got real tight. I think it was in prossess of seizing up the bushing. ... And now I think the third one ( used) might be doing the same thing.

I wonder if the eng. guy left something out during the rebuild, or is it coincidence on the old distributors.
When I pull them out the shafts are oily.?.?

Not Sure About A LUV Distributer But Some Have Rubber O' Rings To Keep This From Happening.

The bottom bushing is lubricated by splash from the engine. The top bushing is supposed to be "lubricated for life". We all know how well that works! Yes, I would get some oil on the bearing under the weights.
