Im not sure what the duration is on a stock G180 camshaft and I found what looks to be a performance camshaft.

So is this a performance cam or an overpriced stocker?

Don't ask me, I couldn't tell you. I've been taking my work to Pacific Auto Machine shop in Renton, and they could tell you what you have. It's 4:30 in the morning and I'm writing posts in LUVTruck.com, so I can't call 'em for ya right now, but I'll make a note and stick it on my monitor!

Any good machine shop can explain the deal to you.

I must have had my head somewhere else when I wrote about the camshaft. I still don't know, but now I'm thinking the duration probably means the degrees of camshaft rotation that the valve will be held open, or how wide the lobe is circumference-wise. Better let me ask that more directly to be sure, or perhaps some of y'all out there would elaborate?

I was focused on your price concern, and I looked around, as well as asked. I find that the price you had was not bad at all and I have found prices from $120 to $199. One thing to watch out for is high-performance camshafts usually will require a stronger set of valve springs.

I swapped in a 5 speed and since my truck used to be an automatic it has 4:10 gears in the rear end and the motor kinda lugs on the freeway. So Im looking to get a little more power out of it the cheapest way I can. I know what duration is on a camshaft I was actually wondering if this cam has more duration then the stock cam. I really didn't ask the question correctly sorry.

Delta Camshafts would be a much better option...they will make you whatever cam you want from your stock cam pretty cheap and it doesn't take very long for them to get your cam done and back to you.

They are in Tacoma,WA.
