well, specifically with a v8. do they get along with wet roads? gas mileage? easy to drive/handle? how hot do they get in the summer/spring? things like that.

Well as you know, setup is everything. My 305 is a stock suspension, so I will guess you wanna know something about that. Other than the no power steering, it drives like a truck. Gas mileage varies on how heavy your foot is, I haven't gotten that good because my rear final drive ratio is still 4.11 but when I change it to 3.08 I think it should get better :).

Mine got hot in summer but only because the radiator was clogged and the waterpump wasnt flowing so good. Once I changed out the thermostat and got my radiator situated, and a highflow waterpump she runs nice and cool now. But I have a reletively small radiator compared to some on this site, some go for the 19x22 griffin aluminium cross-flow.

I have driven mine a little in wet weather, and it acts just like ever other lightweight truck with a V-8 in it, a little ass happy, but if you can control your foot then it rides like every other car.

Always keep in mind that these trucks were meant to have 4 bangers in em, and top out at most 80 m.p.h. so any time you exeed any of those stock perameters, you need to modify something to make it do what you want.

WHEN IN DOUBT PINKY OUT!

Sorry Hadda

RedLuv80's Truck Is The Only V8 Street/Strip Truck I Have Been Around. His Was Basically All Factory Suspension Lowers Only A Little In The Front, Traction Bars Lowered It Slightly In The Rear....But It Handled Like A Go Cart In The Dry, But Of Course All Trucks Are Slippery When Wet. But Nothing Uncontrollable. Normally Though You Lift Your Foot Up and The Truck Will Almost Jerk It Self Back Straight.

Far As Running Cool....It Never Gave Him Any Problems That I Know Of

and It Always Begged For Gas...Saying PLEASE PLEASE Yeah 118..lol Then It Would Say Thank You And Drink It Right Then N There....lol Not Really....But Just Think of A F-Body or S10 n The Rain.

I drove mine home from the track the other day and it was raining horrible bad . No problem , except I don,t have the heater hooked up , no defrost . Mine with the 3.50 trac-loc drives nice . i take people for rides and they don't even expect it . The just think it has load pipes . Most have not ridden in anything with a cool power to weight ratio so dash grabbing and holy shits 8O are sure to follow after you mash on it .

I was surprised how my truck acts on the road. I am tub'ed with 18.5X33's and it acts allot better then several prostreet cars I have owned and driven. It will run down the freeway at 70 with out anything crazy going on. Before I tub'ed it it was even better. I would say that a LUV with a small block is plenty safe and a fun choice as a street car.

Yeah....Kinda...Depends On Set Up As Already Stated. But Yeah They Can Be Built To Do Just About Whatever You Want To Do. But A Basic Setup Limits It Cat Like Reflexes....lol

Mine also jerks itself back straight if I lift. Kinda nice most of the time, unless your ALL crooked. Also, mine kinda drives itself during a burnout if I just guide the steering wheel rather than man-handle it.

Sometimes during REALLY heavy breaking the back end will try to pass the front end. But I think even the stock ones do that.

LOL... So Much Fun It Should Be Illegal, Think Some Of The Things We've Done In One Is. About 150 In A 35 Illegal? Good View Of The Stars Though...LOL RedLuv80 Is Just A BAD BAD BOY!...lol

But Yeah These Trucks Actually Remind Me A Lot Of My Little Camaro. They Both Handle About The Same, The Camaro Slightly Better But With More Body Roll. They Both Have No Weight On The A$$ So There Both A$$ Happy When You Want Em To Be. But They Are Both Just Absolutely A Blast.

These Trucks Will Surprise You If You Set Em Up Right.

i never really "drove" either of lees trucks, but i know that codys will straighten right up when you let out. but if your doin 30 and hit the go pedal, be ready for the backend wanting to come around the front!

now im guessin your prolly not gonne be runnin 420horses, but it will still be a ride!!

Mine only has 400 horse but when you hit 2nd hang on it does get a little squirlly but like the others it will straighten it self out specially with the posi. Handles great on the highway for a stock suspension. Absolutely fun to drive around town. It does better with my M/T's on it and the wider rims. If ya keep your foot out it is eay as pie.

nah i'm not going to be running 420hp. i'm shooting for something around 500hp. with enough compression, tuning, and airflow it is feasible. litemup i do agree with you on the "keeping your foot out of it" thing. i believe with power comes responsibility. you have to respect what's under your foot or it will kill you.
