My son and I just bought an 2.6 isuzu engine with a 5 speed tranny to put i our 80 4x4. We are going to keep the 1.8 in it for a bit since it is rebuilt with a weber carb and runs ggod, He just want the extra gear.
The tranny has the throwout on the passenger side while the original 4 speed is a cable operated on the driver side. Will these bell housings interchange. Looks like they should. Our biggest problm now is I can't get the old tranny out. It isloose but won't drop out. Do I need to pull the flywheel out also to get more space. I have all the rear mounts off and pressure plate out or do I need to pull the engine loose too, or unbolt the transfer unit from the tranny
