This Wont Help You W/ Your Spring. But I Believe RedLUV80 Knocked Out The Factory Pin And Rimmed Out The Hinges To Fit A Mustange Door Pin/Bushing. He Did This Because No Parts Strore Around Here Could Get Em. It Seems To Work Well With His Truck.

I did get the weatherstripping, along with a 200+page catalog from Restoration Specialties & Supply Inc. [(814) 467-9842]

On page #165 they have door hinge pins. This made me think about just drilling the pin out and replacing the pin after I fabricate a new door stop by reversing the pattern on the driver's door. Then just add a spring. But I have gotten an offer already from down south and it's pending.

Glad to be useful.

If this Southern Gentleman does send me the door hinge, I'm already taken care of and no more needs. :D

I gotta get off this computer, put my shoes on, and go make some noise. It's after seven, and time to do the doors. It's raining hard and I really got it good with the tarp. I'll be back later, and it's good to have friends.

Yesterday I did the weatherstripping on the doors. I removed them and brought them in the house to be warm and dry faster. Outside the weather was blowing up a storm, and I disconnected all my office equipment in anticipation of a lightning strike. Even with a UPS I don't want to fry up all the stuff in my office! Here I am today with some photos for all you LUVvers.

Restoration Specialties sent an ample amount of weatherstripping, and I put it right on. It's just what I wanted, and thanks to LUVTruck.com for the referral!

Thank you Shawn. Stock up on some more duck tape. I need that fuel tank filler hose. You could tell me how it looks...relieve the anxiety!

Pics are always best.

I just did mine aswell. On the corners here, I was not happy. (Same as yours) Im think of cutting two pieces at 45 degrees and glueing them together to make a sharper corner here.

Stead of Completely Cutting The Corners I Would Try Barely Sliceing The Back Side First...That Way It Wont Fold...Then Glue It

I might still be able to do that. I didn't even think of it. Figures, being the very first time I've ever done weatherstripping. I didn't put much glue on the top of the doors since it had the channel and fit very snug. I might be sorry later if it shrinks but it looks like a good seal, so I think I better leave it alone. The passenger door shuts very easily, but the driver's door takes some effort. I expect it to get better with some use.

I could use the two leftover pieces to replace the corners at a later date if need be.

Stub, did you get the same amount as I did? 22 feet? Did you have the leftover? I was thinking of practicing first on a three-inch length, then doing the corners. I think I want to leave it like that for now though.

I oredered 25 just incase.
I think Im going to do the corner thing, cause it just doesnt look right.
and its easy to make a sharp corner by adding two seperate pieces.
Plus I did not glu anywhere that I thought would be snug enough.
You can always glue later after it shrinks a bit, then your golden.
This all seems useless when you can see daylight through your door after you install brand new weather stripping.

Have either of you road tested your trucks yet? Wind noise will tell you if the doors are properly sealed up. My passenger side door whistles as i drive down the road and i need to crack the wing vent to relieve the air pressure in the cab. This only happens when both windows are up fully.

I haven't gone down the road yet. For all intents and purposes the LUV I have is still abandoned, and not even licensed. The plates are on it, but the tabs are 2003, and I have to go through inspection first. My appointment is on the 7th of December but I might catch a cancellation if I try. I won't be hearing the wind noise anyway though, since I'm hearing impaired. I will ask friends if they hear it though. That's interesting and thanks.

back on the hinge subject. I just recently rebuilt mine. the plastic washers/bushings were broken creating a lot of slop. best way to remove any of the pins was to remove the hinge completely form the truck. I heated mine quite a bit with a propane torch this heating process tends to loosen any rust. then hit it with some thin penetrating oil and let it soak in. After that I was able to position the hinge on some would that allowed me to hammer the pins out with a steel pin punch.

to rebuild the pin i found a piece of K&S brass tube 3/8" outer and 5/16"ID that almost fit perfectly. Just a little reaming to make everything fit. Then I drilled out a brass washer to take up the gap form the plastic bushing being gone.

As for the broken part, if you are ok in your metal working skills. this is a flat metal parts take the part form the good hinge trace it on piece of steel cut and grind to shape, drill some holes and you are done or find a used one somewhere.

I used that same weather striping on my LUV. It is water and air tight. As far as pressure build up in the cab, the LUV's have a venting system in them. The 3 slices behind the doors, make sure you have a clear path to them inside the cab.
