What are people doing for a gas tank on V8 swaps. Using stock tanks?
What if the exhaust is in the way? I don't want to run a fuel cel in the bed for a driver

Thanks
Richard

I run the stock tank and the exhaust down the passenger side.

Ran the stock tank with the exhaust down the opposite side for a few years.

Now I have a fuel cell under the bed behind the axle, where the spare tire used to be.

Stock tank here, and exhaust down the passenger side!

The pictures of the one I am going to pickup in a week or so, has a fuel tank in the bed. Looks like a old chevy stepside tank, but it could be the stock tank. I could not see in my mind why it was done like that. Current owner was not the person that did not do it way.

I don't know if the exhaust runs down each side, but it would appear to be.

The battery is in the bed in a "boat" battery box too. I'll need to do something about it too. I can't wait to get it home :)

I am going to run a stock tank and then have an auxillary tank in the bed, either the ones that moon makes, or make my own out of a keg haha. I have to have a lot of gas to make the Route 66 trip this summer !

I had side pipes until i put in the 455 now the pipe follow the outside the frame tuck in behind the cab then follow the inside frame to the back. The beer keg would be neat(had one on my sand rail) if you have the time get a full empty the contents one glass at a time while figuring out the build then when empty use keg as planed, suggest wait 1 day first so fuzzyness goes away

Never Seend One W/ Side Pipes Prob Looked Pretty Dang Good. But Yeah As With Most Trucks With A Tank On One Side Of The Bed You Norm Either Have To Cross Over And Run Both Pipes Alone One Side or A Y Pipe Then, For The Dual Exaust Look, Run A One in Two out Muffler. But I Kinda Like The Sound Of The Side Pipes....Have any Pics TJ?

The Keg Would Be A Nice Added Touch But If You Finish It Yourself You Might Have To Sober Up Before Contiueing Work On Your Truck, As Already Suggested.

Wouldn't side pipes be loud in the cab?
The one I am getting is supposed to have flowmasters.

I had a Chevy 1/2 ton with dual exhaust. It sounded ok, but at crusing speed you could not hear the radio for the exhaust. I am going to need something that is "quiet" at crusing speed, as my hearing is shot and I can not afford to loose anymore  I have to wear ear plugs for the lawnmower, the Dr says.

Something like the old the old chevells and camarows would be nice.

Now I just need to decide what brand keg to use. . . I was thinking Fat Tire or maybe Heineken, but Newcastle is always a good choice !

I was thinking about running moon sidepipes on my truck, is it really that deafening ?

I put a fuel cell behind the rear axle in mine and had the exhaust dumped in front of the axle. I love the way it sounds. I had to cut a hole in the bed and fab up a cap though. It was kind of a pain in the ass but im real satisfied with the way it turned out.

When i had the 283 in my trk. i had the header style side pipes and yes at cruising speed they were LOUD but they sure sounded good though another problem is the scar they left on my left leg(beers and short levis)sorry no pic's of it then. There was one on a post some time back showed a show trk. with the same style pipes (looks like header corvette side pipes. The new ones i see in Summit have screens and would work on mild V-8 trucks ok. ( and no burns either)

Those are pretty hardcore sidepipes there, no wonder they were loud, I was thinking of running the old rat rod ones that are made by moon and stuff. . .
