Let me look and get some pics if I have a decent one. You might be in luck on the shipping because I should be in Ennis Sept. 2 for PINKS All Out streetcar shootout. It will be tommorow.

blove22 it is not your day. All three of my donor trucks have been scavenged (what my friends would want with those seats I have no idea) Anyway went by the bone yard and they already crushed the ones the had. So back to the drawing board. Have you tried an s-10 or toyota seat? I dont know but they should at least be close.

Ennis Drag Track, Texas Motorplex. No trees, no shade, hot as hell in Sept.
Great race track. Many records set there. they have some car shows and swap meets at the same time.

I am a VW guy too. Saw the VW paradise dragster
6.60 @ 203.94 MPH quarter-mile. Not bad for a 4cyl vw style engine!!
Everyone went nuts. I have it on video tape somewhere...
Loveit80 "where are u at" I am near Brenham, TX

I know Brownwood, I went to school there for 1 year. I was staying with my aunt and uncle for that year, while my dad was out of the country. It is a nice place. There both gone, but I have some good memories of there. I was in the 8th grade then. And I refuse to say what year it was..

I'm getting my stock radiator re-cored to a 3 row for $150. My truck is a stock 1.8 but I want to get the a/c going and wanted the extra cooling. I'll let you know how it works out. I thought it was a good deal. Another shop quoted me $219!

BTW, just wondering. A stock LUV radiator with a 3 row core would still not be enough for a SBC would it?
Opinions.....

Going to 3 core for the stock motor i think is a smart move. The only setback that i can see is that the radiator is old to start with. You don't mention how he plans to rework the radiator. Is he going to replace the 2 core with a 3 core? Or is he planning to add a single core to the exsisting assy?
For under 200 bucks, you can get an aluminum radiator thats is a crossflow design but it isn't a direct bolt in and a shroud will be needed.
So i guess it's a toss up for a stock motor. But from the experiences of most everyone at LuvTruck that has gone to a V-8, go to the aluminum unit. The Hooker conversion instructions call out to mod the stock radiator but you have to consider the fact that these instructions were made in the mid 80's. Aluminum radiators at the time were very custom and very expensive. Now they're almost cheap and they dissipate heat better than conventional radiators.
If you upgrade to a bigger motor later on, go ahead and use the modified stock radiator. It will get you on the road but you'll keep one eye on the temps.

Thanks. Yea, he is replacing the core with a 3 row.
While reading your post I remembered with a V8 swap , when you install an aluminium rad., you are also moving it forward a couple inches and it is still a tight fit. I bet the stock rad. would be extremely tight.

I have the Griffin 21x19 aluminum and a spal 16 " pusher fan . I had to remove the thermostat completely to keep mine cool . The fan sucks so much power i have cooked 2 alternators and my MSD won't fire right with it on . I will be going to a flex fan and shroud in a week or so . Mt cruise temp is good , just seems like it does not move enough water at idle . I also intend to re install the a/c . Also truck runs cooler at 50 with the fan off verses on . PUT AS MUCH RADIATOR AS YOU CAN FIT . I did not want the cowl hood or hood scoop and wanted to keep the sleeper look . I also find myself popping the hood to help cool things off . I also have aluminum heads .
