1979 Mikado 2wd stock w/ac. I need to do my 2 year smog and did not pass. The smog tech claims that the "Back Pressure Transducer" is bad and possibly the EGR Valve. The EGR I can locate aftermarket bad I have had no luck with the transducer. Any recomendations, different years, models anything that might work? Typical autoparts counter personel I have run into only look or go by the part number and don't know interchangeability. The local Isuzu Dealer said "Good Luck" & I should consider buying a newer vehicle. Help.....Bummed out in the (818).

For the life of me, I can't understand why we still have to smog vehicles this old. This is one more reason why it's a joke.

Wish I could help with the parts. Off the top of my head, I would search rockauto.com.

You may have to involve a referee.

You wont find any parts from the dealer for a 79, period. The big thing to remeber is that Isuzu technically didnt exsist in the states untill 81. But all your mechanical parts are the same up to 82 i know for shure. So try ordering the part for an 81 Pu'P. I have done this many times for my 80 LUV...

Still needin' smog stuff :?:
I just installed a weber & stripped all my emission stuff as I don't get smog tested in FL. :P
The back pressure transducer is a small round thing with 3 ports off of my 83 G180z if I remember correctly.
Have everything: air pump, idle & WOT electric activated things, brackets for above stuff, etc.

In Oregon, if the part is no longer available there is an exemption from it.

I have never tired it, but I've heard you can go to a smog tech or referre.
They maybe be abel to write that part off.

It is a joke, that you have to smog things that old. It's a stupid far left liberal politician that thought they could clean the environment by
stoping the yearly roll over smog exception. Grrr! :?
