Sounds like you need to patent the idea and sell it to Comp Engineering.

Well... First off I Never Planed To Make These...
But Now I Guess I May As Well....
I'm Looking Into Everything As Far A Patent n Everything.
I Have Actually Called A Few Companys and Offered Selling My Kit (Without Describing It)
A Couple Seemed Interested Saying
They Get This Request More Often Then I Thought....
I Think It Will Be Possible For Me To Kick Out 10 or So Sets...
Not Sure At What Cost, Haven't Really Truly Figured Out What It Will Cost Me....
I Have More Pics As Requested...I Will Try To Have Them Posted Later Today.
I Have The Measurements Written Down As Requested But I Left Them In The Shop So
I Will Post That Information As Well This Evening.
The Current Parts List Is As Followed.

1. 2 S10 Spindles
2. 2 S10 Upper (Ball Joint Bolts Included In Kit)
3. 2 S10 Lower Ball Joints
4. 2 S10 Sets of Tie Rod Ends W/ Sleeve
5. 2 S10 rotors and disk brake calipers
6. 8 Grade Eight Half Inch Bolts/Nuts/Lock Washers (To Mount The Plate)
7. 2 Heavier duty brake lines (Stockers Will Work But Not Suggested)
8. Blue Lock Tight (Just A Suggestion)
9. 2 Adapter Plates Made By The One And Only Shawn W.

Oh And Due To File Relocation The Links Don't Work I Know...

So Here...
http://s134.photobucket.com/albums/q106 ... 983019.pbw
Maybe This Will Do Untill I Publish Everything On A Homepage.

Smart man, just tell me when you get the kit out there with my name on it and how much you think it is worth and you will have the cash in your hand.

Patent Is Filed. Should Find Out More Tomorrow. Yes RedLUV80 Did Help Give Me The Idea. BUT Never Put The Work Into Trying To Make Everything Work, Only Thing He Has Ever Done Is Weld In A S10 Upper Ball Joint, He Never Even Attempt To Use A S10 Spindle. Or Factory Lower Ball Joint, Didn't Come Up With The Idea To Make The Plate. And You Didn't Find Out That The Factory Tie Rod Ends Are Turned At The Wrong Angle. I Am The One Who Has Worked Out All The Rough Edges. But You Did Give Me The Crazy Idea, There For You May Get A Set Redluv80, But If You Want More...All Your Getting Is A Swift Kick In The Ass

Jeez, And Just When You Think You Know Who Is a Friend They Come At You With Open Palms Asking Wheres Theres...lol

I Have The Green Light To Use Water Jet WOOHOO So They Will Be Pretty..lol

And Since I Was Checking On Powder Coating My Door Handles I've Also Found Out I Can Powder Coat The Plats Pretty Cheap.

But Now Im Gone To Work On My BeLuved LUV and To Take Some More Pics

What is covered on the pending patent?? I would assume that it is just the adapter.

Well I Have Talk To One Person Who Believes I Should Make The Plat MADE to The Ball Joint, But I Am A Nice Guy. I Know Years Down The Road This Part Will Have To Be Replaced. And It Would Suck To Have To Buy This Plate Everytime. It Would Be A Lot Easier To Leave It Like I Have It So You Can Use S10 Balljoints and just press Them In.

So Yeah Just On The Adapter Plate

Trans-Dapt Seems Really Interested In This Whole Idea (Never Told Em How It Was Done)
They Say They Receive Request Daily For A Chevy LUV 5 Lug Swap

I Am Trying To Get A Hold Of Hooker Headers, To Go W/ There Headers, Motor Mounts, And Tranny Mounts. Figure They Would Be More Likely Candidate.

But Anywho Off To Work On The LUV..lol

Blackluv80 you can definietly put me down for a set. I just bought an '80 long bed and have been following this thread on your conversion. I'm planning a TPI small-block, overdrive trans and bags all around. The s10 conversion will make it a lot easier to find decent wheels. Just let me know where and when to send the cash........

If your up for a bit of constructive critisim ive got some.

Looking at the pics two things pop into my mind. Well three, we dont got S10's here. lol.

First is that other than 5 lug youve achived nothing in the braking department over stock bolt up Isuzu ventilated discs. Same thickness by the look and the same style crappy single piston sliding caliper. Some nice beefy discs and 4 piston calipers would be the bomb.

Second thing is how does the steering arm on the S10 knuckle come up compared to the old Luv one. Moving it anywhere from the std position will create dramas. Thats anywhere 3D, up down in out blah blah on any axis.

I dont get the patent either, your probably joking, would be near impossible to enforce a breach of patent on something like that. You could only patent the set design not the idea so it would only have to be varied slightly to be deemed a new design.

Flame me if you want.

Bob.

rodeobob has some good points but the idea is to go to lighter and better brakes that most can afford. check and you will find that the 78 up chevy monte carlos and there clones are the same spindles as the S10 and that opens up a lot for up grades that your wallet can handle. As for steering geometry it should be checked but it looks close enough to work. You could use the rack that i did and mount it to work.

No Man I Don't Mind, Actually I Request It! If You See A Flaw Or Have A Question Then Bring It To My Attention So I Can Either Fix It or Explain It, Whatever Need Be.

Far As The Patent I Have Truly Tried On It, No Such Luck So Far, Because They Claim It Would Have To Be A Fixed Unit. In Other Wards The Ball Joint Would Have To Be Made To The Plate, And I Don't Want To Do That Because That Would Mean Replacing The Plat On Down The Road When The Ball Needs Replacing.

I Have Contacted Hooker They Said There Not Interested That They Don't Hardly Deal With Cassie/Suspension Components. How Ever Trans-Dapt and Competition Engineering Both Showed A Slight Interest In The Plates. That Doesn't Mean Much As Far As Buying A Design, But Its Hope.

Well...
My Major Goal In This Mock-Up Build Is To See If Everything Will Work.
Well I Currently Don't See A Reason In Why It Shouldn't. I Wanted To Get The S10 Spindles Mounted That Way I COULD Get Better Brakes. You Can Find After Market Breaks For S10's, Monte Carlo's, And Camaro's.

I Plan On Swapping To A Set Of After Market Calipers, Drilled And Slotted Rotors, Drop Spindles, And Steal Breaded Brake Lines. In Other Words This Is Just A Mock Up To Work Out The Bugs Before I Started Improving.

I Will Also Be Using 4X4 S10 Drilled And Slotted Front Rotors On The Back With Either A Set Of S10 Front Calipers On The Rear or I Will Use A Set Of Trans Am Rear Disc Brake Calipers, For The Sake Of Having A Parking Brake!

Which Should Be Better Braking Then Factory LUV Brakes, And There Not Alot Out There, That I've Found, After Market Brake Kits For "Higher Performance" Chevy LUV Pickem' Up Trucks. In Other Words I Want To Make Sure This Truck Will Stop Before I Ever Make It Go. Make Since? I Feel That Brakes Are Often Over Looked When Someone Drops A Big Hopped Up Engine In A Factory Based Car.

Far As Geometry, It All Stays The Same. The Hight Of The Spindle Is Taller With A S10 BUT When You Drop It Below The Control Arm,Roughly 2 1/2 - 3 ", It Is Almost Perfectly The Same As Factory.

If I Hadn't Already Cut The Torsion Bars I Would Show You How It Looks In Action. I Will Eventually Get To This. On A Later Date I Will Post More Pics Of The Suspension Being Under Stress, Released From Stress, Turning, and With The Tie Rod Ends All In Action. Heck I Could Even Possibly Film It Maybe Going Down The Road w/o A Front Clip.

As Far The Tie Rod Ends I Forgot To Take Pics Of Them They Completely Slipped My Mind. But They Work Perfect As Well. The Only Reason I Swapped To A S10 Tie Rod End Is The Factory LUV Rod Ends Are None Adjustable And The Arm That The S10 Spindle Has To Connect To Em Are At A Different Angle Then Factory. So I Used A S10 Tie Rod End For The Added Adjustabllitie. After A Slight Amount Of Clearance Work Is Done To The Inside Of The Control Arm, Mainly On The Back Side, Rang Of Motion Is Just Like It Was Meant To Be. You Can Turn The Wheel From One Bump Stop Screw To The Other.

Right Now My Main Priority Is Getting More Done w/ The Frame As Far As Four-Link and Core Support/Radiator Cradle. But Before I Do That I Am Going To Pressure Wash And Wire Brush The Frame and Under-Carriage. I Think I Will Start A Finish Cleaning Up The Frame Rails Where I Removed The Factory Engine Mounts. So A Lot Of Work Still A Head. I Will Try My Best To Keep All Of Yall Posted.

Anymore Questions Or Spotted Potential Problems Please Let Me Know.

Time To Cut N Grind!

If you take a look at the master cylinder of a S-10 you will notice that the front brake resivor is at least double in size of the LUV. The piston is bigger in the s-10 caliper, so is there enough fluid to replenish the cavity of the caliper? Question 2 would be the bore size of the S-10 master cylinder vs. the bore size of the luv. This is a matter of hydraulics, if the s-10 master has a bigger bore size then the luv master it will not have enough volume to create the pressure for the designed caliper which equals less stopping force.

Now my wife is a insurance agent and my friend is the #1 R&D man at Willwood which is located here in Camarillo. They both strongly suggest no less then 5 million liability insurance if you are to produce those plates for sale, even if it is posted for off road use only.

Yeah Thats Why I Though About Using Proctor's (A Guy Here In Town) Adapter To Use The Master Cylinder Off of A Full Size Chevy Pick Up or Any Thing Really Camaro, Monte Carlo, Chevelle's...etc etc It Is What He Used On His Rock Crawler. It Converts The Four Bolts Into A Two Bolt Mount.

As Far As The Insurance, Prob Wont Have To Worry At The Most I Will Produce Is Maybe 10 Sets I Am Most Likely Selling The Design Once I Have It Completely Perfected.

If every thing being equal you will get more pressure with the stock luv master as it is a smaller bore as for reservoir size it is to fill the piston as the pad wears. I have used a 5/8" bore on big calipers and it works great as long as there is no movement in the rotor ie; don't mount the caliper on top been there. The system is nothing but hydraulics. One word of caution do not use a front caliper on the rear as it is way to hard to get them to work right as a brake compensator off a car wont work and min is 2 adjustable and this may not work.
