Don't know about the windows but Restoration Specialties carries door seal material. Do a search for Restoration specialties and you should see some old posts, including some of mine. I got mine from there and they worked out good.

Any idea if the solid glass can be used if the vent windows are removed

Dunno about that....I know there are several people on here that have converted to the "newer" style one-piece door glass from later model luvs but I don't know if you can use the older style glass without the wings. What did you have in mind for filling up the hole where the wings would be?

The doors will swap right over, but I don't know if you can just remove the wings and swap in the larger glass. I think the metal around the window frame will be different to accomodate the wing window, but I honestly do not know for sure. I think all of the people who have converted one way or the other have just swapped the entire door. I understand though if you have decent paint and don't want to swap doors and screw it up.

If you are having trouble with the wings leaking air/water, you can get wing window locks. I found them at Shucks (might be Checker or Kragen in your area) but a lot of parts stores have them. They fit over the edge of the wing glass and have a slider the tightens against the frame. They pull it closed a lot better than the stock wing latches and should help with wind noise or water coming in. Not to mention they are 100x more secure. I can get into a wing window luv without locks in about 30 seconds or less.

The old and new doors are different.

The old ones have support for the wing window that's not in the new ones. The window rails are mounted differently. The crank mechanism might be different, I don't remember.

Oh, and the moulding and trim are, of course, different

If you had all the guts from a new door, you might be able to cut and drill enough to put it in an old door, but it seems like a lot of work.

Weatherstripping for door: Restoration Specialties P/N 990021. I got some and it works great.

Door glass channel: J C Whitney part no. SL143542B. I got this from an old post and can't vouch for it, but I plan to get some.

You can hunt down stuff for a 73-82 toyota. I pulled mine out of a 76 toyota in the junkyard and cut it to the size I needed for my truck.

Hey, 1okey2go, A few minutes ago I ordered the #990021 - 22 feet of it. Jeff there said it is $1.75 a foot. I'm trusting your word that it will be the right one. I'm sending JCWhitney back the wrong one today.

I want to say thanks in advance for the heads up.

LUVTruck.com should have a listing of all the good connections for restorations....

I just called this place. The stuff needs to be glued on.
Cant you buy weatherstripping from any where and glue it on?
Why is everyone ordering from restoration specialties?
Whats so special about their stripping?

Even the original weathstripping needed to be glued on. The top 1/2 or 3/4 of it fits into a channel that holds it in, but the bottom needs a little something to stick in on in a few places. I've had good luck using black RTV silicone sealant as glue on mine.

The shape and size is special. The cost is cheap from them. I have installed it and am very happy with the fit and quality. I used a weatherstrip adhesive glue from 3M, also known as gorilla snot.

I got my tracking number from Restoration Specialties and the expected delivery date is one week from today. Not so long to wait. I am thankful for the referral by the members who have gone that way before. I will be posting my results here after I install it. I already have a new tube of Permatex® Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. One door has been removed and the rust removed with a brass wire wheel on a cordless drill, then painted. I should do the left one before a week is up.

The weatherstripping should adhere very well.
