the 77 motor will be a g180. its a 1.8L

the 79 would have the same motor as the 77.

the 73 will have an early model 1.8L. itll have the intake and exhaust both on the driverside.

Your description really doesn't give enough info to ID the motor in the back of your 77. If there are virtually no marks and it looks externally just like your 79's stock Isuzu motor then it may have come from an S-10. The motor in my 80 was a 1.9L from a Chevy S-10. The valve cover is blank, and there is nothing on the side of the block behind where the exhaust manifold would be where it should say G180 or G200. That is the only theory that I have come up with on mine, that in the S-10 GM had Isuzu produce a motor with not marks to show it was anything but a GM design.

On mine I did eventually spot a couple of Isuzu logos cast into the block, but they are not very obvious. There is no mistaking the engine design as being an Isuzu, but they sure tried to erase the name from it.

Thanks to all for the reply!! :D Will try to post some pics by this weekend. My 73 has a 4.3 with a 350 trans and the 79 is sans a motor right now. I have a 327 on hand for it. The 77 just has the motor I was trying to discribe. There are some letters on the oil filler cap and cast on the block in a few places. They are what looks like the letters TER and a backwards "L".
My other cars are a 1967 camaro that my wife has had since her 16th birthday she is 45 now, a 1991 RX7, that I need a fuel pump for, and my baby, a 2000 Mercedes C-230 Kompressor.
