I've got an 82 diesel luv 2wd with a 5spd, my friend has a 82 gas 4wd with a 4 spd. What would it take to put my engine and tranny into the 4wd. Will my 5spd tranny bolt up the transfer-case or do I have to us the 4spd tranny. I know I have to change the fuel system over and the wiring harness. My cab and front end are in better shape so I was going to put my body on the 4wd chassis anyway.

You will need to use the 4-speed. The 4wd diesel had a different oil pump (and pan?) from the 2wd model, too.

You may get all your questions answered here--but if not, try the IsuzuPup.com forum, since the 2nd-gen LUVs are the same as P'ups.
