OKAY!!
i am pleased to present my 77 chevy luv! im finally one of the gang now!
i got a call from lee yesterday, and hes tells me that he knows a guy thats got a luv that he wants to get rid of. so i ask him how much its gonna cost and goes "its free!". so when lee got off work we went and found it and pulled it out of the hole it was in with lees luv. we left it there for the night and went and got it this mornin. i put a set of good tires on it, slapped a battery in it, and we headed home.
so now, the pics youve all been waitin for!
the huge wasp nest that came to life as the day got warmer! lol
but with most good news theres always some bad news.
the guy i got it from told me that it didnt run, and from the way the engine bay looked i figured it would be just some wires i needed to hook up. so i drained the oil, and it was perfectly clean. so i thought that was weird since it had been sittin for as long as it did. anyway i put some new oil in it and the valve cover with barely on, so i tighted it up and lee dumped some gas down the carb and it tried to fire, but it was only 1 cylinder tryin to fire. so we pulled the valve cover back off to check it out in there and it was also perfectly clean. has a brand new timing chain, new tensioners and stuff. then lee noticed that the rockers were way out of adjustment. or what we though was out of adjustment. i pulled the plugs to check for compression and #s 2, 3, and 4 had absolutly none. so we pulled the head and found this...
the cam timing have to had been crazy out of whack, and all the valves are bent. the valves on 2 3 and 4 are stuck open cuz theyre bent so bad.
luckily i still have the g200 head from the old motor in the pup, so ill get a headgasket kit and put that one on and see if i can get it runnin. i know that this motor is prolly shot, but id like to at least see if itll run. im gonna be buyin another g180 from chet next month for it if this motor doesnt do so hot.
SO now you all know! no ban for neil!!
