1st Time Post, So 1st of All Hello and Thanks To Everyone
For The Information I've Already Gathered From This Site

I Have A 1980 Model Chevy LUV Project Underway. I Have Swapped To The 76 Style Front Clip. Replaced The Amber Center Lens With The Red Ones on The Tail Lights. ( Also Off A 76 ) I Have Just Started Cutting for Clearance For A V8. I Have A Ford 9" That Has Been Narrowed For The Truck And Plane To Soon Start Four Linking The Truck. I Have Converted The Truck To Four Wheel Disc Brakes By Using Rotors, Calipers, and Brackets Off The Rear Of A 95 Junked Oldsmobile.

But Now To The Point of My Post

I Have Created A Five Lug Conversion Using S10 Spindles, Ball Joints, and Tie Rod Ends.

How You Ask

Well,

- 1st Step Is Easy Remove The Spindle, Both Upper and Lower Ball Joint, and Tie Rod Ends

- 2nd Step is Buying The Ball Joints and Hard Parts Such As Tha Spindles
( Ball Joints Cost Me $10 A Pop. Luckily I Had Everything Else. Parts Should Be Easily Found In A Junk Yard )

- 3rd Step Place Upper Ball Join In Factory Location and Drill The 4 Holes Where Necessary

- 4th Step Is A Fun One. I Ran a Problem Here Originally I Was Going To Just Flip The Lower Ball Join To Mate With The S10 Spindle. But The Factory Lower Ball Joint Was Bottoming Out Before The Spindle Was All The Way Up. So This Is Where Fabrication Comes Into Play, I Found a 1/2" Plate of Steel and Placed It Under The Lower Control Arm and Spray Painted It With White Paint To Create A Template.

I Then Drilled The Four 1/2" Mounting Holes. Next You Have To Locate Where The Center of The Ball Joint Should Be and Drill, Press, or Cut Out A 2" Hole For The Ball Joint To Be Pressed In. Then Just Clean Off The Excess Steel. Then Just Simply Bolt It Right Up.

- 5th Step This Is Where I Ran Into A Additional Problem. You Must Slightly Smooth/Shave Around The Bottom of The Spindle Where The Lower Ball Joint Bolts Up. Then Some Ever So Slightly On The Inside Of The Control Arm.

- 6th Step Is A Direct Bolt In of The Tie Rod Ends.

Then Finish Up By Reinstalling The Brake Lines and Bolt Up You 5 Lug Wheel.

If You Wish To Have Small Ford Lug Pattern Just Simply Use A Mid 80's Through Early 90's Ranger Rotors The Inner Bearings Are The Same. Then Use The Ranger Outer Bearing.

Your Could Also Drill The S10 Rotor To Achieve The Same Thing Or You Could Buy Aftermarket Rotors For An S10 That Are Cross Drilled and Slotted That Have Both Patterns
( Which Is The Method I Plan Doing Since I Am Sticking With The Small Ford Pattern )

Yes It Sounds A Little Hard But It Isn't Really. Truly It Is A Small Price To Pay For Bigger Brakes, Easier To Find Parts, Easier To Find Aftermarket Performance Parts, DROP SPINDLES and Last The Satisfaction Of Your Seeing Your Hard Work Paying Off.

This Conversion Leaves The Factory Tire Location ( Unless Using Drop Spindles Then It Lowers The Truck Of Course )

Please Send Your Thoughts and Questions Are More Than Welcome

LOL..Well I Guess A Mans Gotta Do What A Mans Gotta Do, And Everybody Gotta Live Somewhere

Yeah The Camaro Is My Baby Was Really My First Car Was All Origional Car With 64,000 Origional Miles When I Got It. I Am The 3rd Owner Of The Car My Father Being Then 2nd. As You Can See I Spent 2 Years Restoreing It. But Soon As She Hit 100,000 Miles She Jumped Time. ( Stupid GM And Plastic Coated Timing Chains ) I Did A Cheap Fix New Push Rods, Oil Pump, and Timing Chain. She Was Good As New For A Few Months Then She Kicked The Bucket. My Only Guess Is Metal Shaving From The Timing Chain Got Into The Bearings.

But Now She Had A Heart Transplant. I Built A 10 1/2 Ta 1 383 With A Set Of 3782461 Double Hump Heads, A Lunati 515 by 515 cam ( Hell Of A Ground Pounder ), Hooker Super Comp Headers, A Eldlebrock Performer RPM Air Gap Intake, 3500 Stall, B&M Shift Kit and A Holley 750 Double Pumper To Top It All Off

Lets Just Say She Is A Little Funner To Drive The She Use To Be

Oh and Thanx Again

I like your conversion it looks like you may have found the answer to allot of problems in front brake setups. One question though is the steer arm the same length or close? My Toyota conversion works but i would like to put drop spindles on the front and i have already put a rack&pinion steer on the truck(hope to get pics on site soon)This took about 45lbs of the front so i want to keep it.

The Only Thing I Changed In The Actual Steering Is The Tie Rod Ends

Which Are Adjustable On Both Ends With A Sleeve In The Middle, I Know Thats Not The Technical Name But Thats All I Can Think To Call It Right Now

But With This Adjustment It Works Perfect

I Eliminated The Pics W/ The Tie Rod End Connected Because MySpace.com Only Allows 16 Pic On A Profile

I Believe That I Will Create A More In Dept Exsplanation Followed By More Pic On A Web Page As Soon As Have The Time To Whip One Up

BlackLuv80...

Try this link from this site for future image posting.
Works very well.

I must commend your efforts and attempt here to that S-10 disc/spindle approach.
Can you share more with the lower arm/ball joint and spindle shave application.
Maybe a few more pics where that plate is actually installed and the clearancing of the spindle as well....

8)

last add: can you measure the end to end from the face of each rotor as they are installed on your truck, prior to mounting the rims?
I am just curious as to that measurement vs. the stock LUV rotor width...
