So, I mentioned earlier that I am thinking about being a Luv owner. This because I always wanted one, then spied one on the way back from my GF's daughter's ball game, sitting forlorn in a repair shop's parking lot. Before you start, I'll take some pics tonight and hopefully post them tomorrow. I want a general idea if the truck is worth what he is asking.

1979, clear title. Rusty, and by that, I don't mean patina, I mean cancer. Passenger fender, bedsides and tailgate all show rust through. Dash cracked, interior very dirty. Has some big headache rack on the bed. No major body damage, light blue original color, with numerous primered spots. Runs, drives, stops, new clutch cable, new battery, new points, condensor and rotor, clutch pedal "kinda" bent. (not real sure what he meant by that, I haven't seen the pedal yet)

$500 cashola.

Basically, I want a beater truck anyway. Most likely lower it, primer it roll it.

Discuss!

Hell, if it runs and drives, it's worth $500.00!

Now, if you just want a "Beater Truck" that you can do a little work to this could be your ticket. If you were looking to make a "Show Truck" out of it, I'd let it pass (cost ya' too much $ to fix). If nothing else, you could get this one that runs, and play with it till' a better one shows up (maybe with a blown motor??) Then it becomes yer' parts truck. :D

If yer' patient, and shop around I think you could find all the parts you need cheap. I just bought (and parted out) a nice 79' for $150.00 that had all the parts you would'a needed to fix up the one you are looking at.
Take yer' time, and be flexable.

Good luck, and take lots'a pic's

He wants $500. Offer him $350 and if he doesn't go for it maybe you two will meet in the middle.
See, it dependes on how bad he wants it gone.

What is a good site to price body metal for an idea? Anything in particular I should look for when looking at it?

For parts, either ebay, or your local wrecking yard, as far as what to look for on the truck, its pretty basic, just look for mickey mouse wiring and anything else that looks like a tweekers been workin on it! my .02

Those are the best pics I could get. I took them early this morning as I left for work, so its kinda dark. The doors were locked, so I couldn't get any interior pics.

Whatcha think?

Looks workable. You might want to roll around under it and check the frame and what not for cancer. It may be a great parts truck if it's to rusty to fix up.

Most websites have tailgates, but that is the only sheet metal I think you can get without searching really hard.

I have seen folks start out with a lot worse and turn out some real jaw-dropping classics...but you have to decide what's best for you based on your tools, skills, money, and time, just what is best for you.

But if the frame is rusted bad...that is a definite downside.

So if it's a strong runner...you can always get whatever you need from here, ebay, and wrecking yards...or look around for a better body to swap all the running gear over to.

$500 does seem a bit high...and if you could talk him down...that would be a plus.

Good luck!
