My BS detector keeps going off on this one. I've not been around too many jet engines, but I do not think I'd want the intake of one that close to my elbow, inside the car. Seems like it would suck more air in than just a slight breeze that pulls flowers off the dash, not to mention the screaming noise factor. My gut just says it is special effects, smoke and mirrors.

I have seen the bettle in person, it was at i think this years auto rama in fresno california. Neat idea, but not for me. As for the scooter, that would be a bit scary.

I just re-read my post and it reminded me of the VW commercial:

What is dis for? (points toward hood scoop)
It sucks in more air.
Well, it is sucking...

I still think it is more of a show piece than functional thrust, but if you've seen it lit up in person you would have a better idea of that than I.

I know what you mean 800. I wonder if the window openings would let in enough air for the thing to go to full power. There could be so much air flow that the driver would be getting pulled to the right, even when belted in.

i can speak with a little experience on jet engines... if that engine was at full throttle.. that driver would be having some fun with the air being sucked in and the wind noise would be pretty loud too.. as for being functional.. it could be if the driver was able to take it... probably not anywhere near 100% thrust though..

That is what I figured. It might work, but it seems unlikely. If it was 100% functional, it would not be fun to be in the seat beside that intake.

Letterman had this guy on, oh it seems at least a month or so ago, and it is functional, he had it out at an airstrip and ran it up to about 130 if I remember right.

For me personally, I wonder why, but I spose if you've got the $$ and the brains and the time you can and will do just about anything you want.
