Finnally got the timing where I wanted it . The heater hose cut off valve blew it's seal followed by the heater core . Blew anti freeze on everything . Now have that bypassed . Trans dipstick o-ring is dripping , this job i'm dreading . Rubber splash gaurds don't look like they will take the heat from the headers . Electric fan blew a fuse , due to a bad ground . having trouble getting the shift linkage adjusted . Gen light won't cut off & tach is acting crazy . i think i'm going to take a break from it for a while .

that exhaust sounds good... sounds like just a few little things and you'll have it where you want it.

Well , I thought I was making good progress on this thing . I got the dipstick tube leak fixed and got the reverse lights working . Pulled it off of the jacks and backed it out of the garage . I just finished setting the pinion angle and tack welding the spring perches to the tube . I said "hell i've worked real hard on this thing , I'm gonna take it around the block" . Well it was all good for the first half of the block right up till it shifted to second . The welds on the rear axle broke sending the pinion almost straight up , binding and breaking the rear u-joint on the NEW chromemoly drive shaft . It destoyed the new shaft , with about 5 dents in the tube . I was not even on it , just putting along , it hit 2nd hard and I had to push it almost a mile home as I left my cell phone at the house . It now sits covered in the garage , where it might stay for a while . I'm going tommorow to look at another car . This damn thing has fought me the whole way and is about to win I believe . Oh well , sorry for the rant .

Let it sit and relax. Then think it out and get back in there.

You'll be sorry if you sell it now and never finish it.

Yeah, don't give up on it for something like that. It just needed to let you know how tough to make those welds when you permanently mount the spring pads. Better it break when you are going easy on it than doing that on a shift from 2nd to 3rd moving along down the highway. Doing a pogo stick impression would not be fun.

Well, i left it alone for a few days and feel like I got alot done . Figured out my trans leak( 80' kick down in pre 78' trans , they are not interchangable) . Got driveshaft built (thicker tube, Spicer u-joints , balanced to 3000 rpm) . Things are looking up again . If I can get it welded friday , I might make a shake down pass at the race track friday night.

Well , just thought Id post an update . I fixed the trans leak It was at the detent cable . Trans shops have a rubber boot that goes on the kick down cable to fix this . Had a gear lube leak , had to dis asseble the rear axle and remove it to have it welded . 2* is where you want your pinion angle set , I set mine at 5* and now have to run shims . traction bars are on . The only thing keeping me from being legal is the front ebrake cable . Took a break last week end and went to the Mopar show at the drag strip. Things are coming along nicely . Should get it on the road in another week or 2 . Got to have it finished in less than a year , as I try to do 1 project a year .

All the little things that hold you up seem to be no trouble at all after you complete a project. Strange how that works. Glad you updated us, I was wondering...

It is finally tagged and inspected . I drove it most of the day today . There is a guy in a cobra kit car that won't ever forget about the lil' blue Luv . I am still moving timing and fuel adjustments around , but i'm real close . I had a heat issue that I think I have solved by moving the fan relay sensor . The rear axle is leaking AGAIN , this will be the third time to disassemble it . Finally got the trans leaks fixed . Drive shaft is in working . The drag radials have not shown up yet ,but I expect them anytime . The traction bars are ready . It has a small amount of blow by , but I guess it is still breaking in . I'll probably change the oil and put the drag radials on wensday , Double check some hardware and try for friday street car night . Need to give it a good wax job . The dude that inspected it was super nervous . I don't think he had ever driven anything like this before . The girl taking the money had never heard of a chevy luv . People all over town were waving as i drove by . I guess these truck just aren't around any more . Well sorry to be so long winded . I'll try and post some piocs from the track and a copy of some time slips . I might have a buddy who can take a video , but no promises . This thing will smoke the tires at a wick of the throttle .

That's what I admire. Somebody that's not afraid to flog on a new project. Projects are made to enjoy.

Glad to see a little setback didn't beat ya. One of these days I am going to have to build up a V8 luv just to be like all the cool kids. All the stories about earsplitting wheelspinning tiresmokin luvtrucks must be finally getting to me.

That is a nice simple not overly done truck. I really think it has a great stance. Job well done.

P.S. I have a extra set of windsheild washer nozzels and plumbing if you need it, I could not see it in your pic's
