so the last high school drag races were yesterday, and i always make itto the highschool races. for the last couple races ive been runnin the 2nd gen and i had been doin pretty good. i always win at least one elimination.

so yesterday, i got to the track early. like an hour and a half early lol. first one to get in. get to the pits get the truck unloaded and went thru tech. get back to my pit got my slicks on and then got 3 time trials in.

come to fine that the slicks didnt help at all. i dont think i was gettin them hot enough though. the starter guy wouldnt let me burn em long enough. so next year im just gonna run a wide street tire. i might try runnin a locked rearend next summer for the race season. dont know though.

anyways. i ended up winnin the 18.5 second and slower class. i beat 2 people fair and sqaure but got lucky on my last 2 rounds and my opponents redlighted. i got a big ol 3ft tall trophy and got a bunch of pictures taken of my truck and me and my team.

all in all it was pretty cool. ill have some pics from yesterday up when i get them. i also have a friend that takes photos trackside, so ill have a nice pic from right off the line.

not really. fastest time i pulled yesterday was like an 18.6. last time i was at the track i was lettin off at the top end and runnin 18.6s.

the motor is gettin rebuilt this winter though. im hopin that the cylinders are gonna be in good shape so i can run the same pistons. im also gonna mess with the intake some. gonna cut out the material between the two holes and smooth out the "intake" of the intake. gonna use a g180 head for some more compression, and im gonna pick up a header and do the exhaust right. oh yeah, and i think a new clutch is in order too! lol

Check with Summit Racing...they have a real nice hand made offenhauser intake that will fit a G180 head for about $170.00...and it will make a serious difference. Plus a weber bolts right up to it without the need for an adapter plate.

Plus a reground beefier camshaft from Delta Cams wouldn't hurt either...then you can go back and whoop them all...Luv style.

as much as id love to have that offy intake, im gonna have to stick with the stocker untill i have the extra cash to drop on it. then i still have to wait 3 months for it to be made and shipped.

the cam thing on the other hand might be do-able. if i remember right delta cams does regrinds for like 55bux? and ive got and extra cam in my old g200 head. thing is, i dont want to go to radical with the cam, cuz then ill need better springs and valves and all the ruckus.

i think ill be good with my rebuilt impulse motor with a stock cam, mildly worked intake, header, and good exhaust. im not lookin to run 12s. just want something that will run good and still get there pretty quick! lol

Congatulations on your win. Also, If you run sticky tires with an open rear, the tire that spins in the waterbox will hook. Then the one that did not spin does its burnout at the starting line. A locking diff would help you get em even better next year.

yeah, thats just what it was doin too...

if i can find another another rearend with 410s or maybe 456s ill weld it up and slap it in the truck for the summer months. i was thinkin to myself about runnin 456s with a 5 speed, but ive heard that the isuzu 5 speeds arent as strong as the 4 speeds. and if i ran 456s with the 4 speed id have to tow it out to the track. right now with the 410s im runnin at 3500rpms to do 65mph.

man i really need another rig! lol its kinda difficult to have a good milelage daily driver race truck... lol.

SOMEONE GET ME A LUV!!! lol

Is that a pretty straightforward swap?

yep. the g200 is the same physically as a g180, so itll just bolt in. my impulse motor had fuel injection on it when i got it though, so i used the carb intake from my old motor onthe new one.
