I am seriously considering buying this little Luv from a shop down the street. I have always wanted one, and just thought it might make a fun project. The main downside is that the truck is fairly rusty. Are body panels easily obtained? It has rusty fenders, bedsides and tailgate. Also, the dash is bad, but I learned from my 30 minutes of searching that I'm pretty much SOL on that deal, as lots of you have bad dashes. Hmm. Well, I haven't decided if I want the truck or not, so I may be asking a lot of questions in the next couple of days to help my decision making capabilities. :)

So if you see me lurking about, don't mind me. I don't bite. Much.

It only takes $$. Yea the dash is a problem you can get one but it is expensive. About the body panels I am sure you can find replacement panels. Maybe you can find a better truck to start with they are usally easy to find.

I had the same problem on a cab I have on one of my 72 chevy trucks and the aftermarket people make repacement sheetmetal for about 75% of the trucks I have.
As for any sheetmetal being made aftermarket, I doubt there is a big demand to make replacement metal for LUV trucks, although I believe the fenders are being made, dont quote me.
If you have cab issues, and they are considerably rusted through on yours, try considering swapping the cab from a donor LUV that has minimal rust.
The beds appear from time to time so maybe you could swap that too if yours is too rusty

Yeah, the fenders appear fairly common, but its the bedside sheet metal I was most curious about. I may search for a better one. We shall see. I'll try to get some pics when I go by on Tues and talk to the guy. :)

Just north of Dallas. Oddly, my best friend moved to Monroe (near you) and manages a hotel there. I pass through all the time. Why?

That would be awesome Iam fairly new to the sight. But with all of the imagination around here you could make some new friends and get some really cool ideas for your toy. Iam right in the middle of Texas.

This is just my opinion so dont flame me.

I would look for a better starting piont. I dont like the rust on the rocker panals. I would hold out for a better truck.

Hell, I wouldn't flame. I dunno if you saw them, but I put pics in the "What's luv worth" thread. It is pretty rusty. I just never see them around here, and kinda wanted one. The interior is waaaay screwed. :?
