like the one on the fender...

Image

mkay. heres the story. right now i have this POS NAPA fuel pump. one of those universal ones. i had it on the inner fender under the hood since i put the impulse motor in, and it worked great for like a week, and then it would start lettin the fuel run back down the line, and it would run dry. now its been doin that off and on since i put the motor in. so last night i put it inline under the truck and it still back feeds... so i dont know what to do. all this damn pump does is make a damn racket and it pisses me off to no end! do i need to run a return line on this to make it a constant pressure system? my weber has a provision for a return.

anyone got any suggestions??? :x :x

why cant you put a check valve in the line right befor the pump so the fuel cant run backwards

Neil, that pump looks like the factory Facet pump, Summit has them at least they did the last time i checked) You could also check out the Porsche section of http://www.performanceproducts.com as Facet fuel pumps where also used on early Porsches (1953-198?) be forwarned though as they aren't cheap

hmmm. well i looked at all the local parts stores today and they all said that no one makes that kinda of pump anymore. they they all told me to get the one thats just like the one i have... :smt093

so im gonna try the return line off the carb and see if it does anything to help. if not, im gett lees old Holley Blue fuel pump, rebuildin it and gettin a pressure regulator!

i wish this thing still had the mechanical pump on it!! im sooo gonna put the stock g200 head on this thing when i rebuild it. mechanical pumps FTW!!

I still have my stock pump Neil, i could get the model number off of it and see if i can cross reference it with the porsche site(or better yet their cataloge as they have most of their products in the cataloge)

JCWhitney sells those Facet pumps for $100 a pop. Click Here for a direct link to the part.

well i was gonna hook up my return line last night but i cant find the damn piece of hose i was gonna use.

those facet pumps are damn expensive! i was readin on the one link and the facet pumps are self priming and have pressure release valves. this one that i have is just a "full on pump all the time" pump. hardly will ever pick up its own fuel and its always pumpin.

put it in the back close to the tank, they push better than they pull

If you keep getting the pump at NAPA that you said was a POS, with down time and having to buy another one, I would say that a pump that costs 100 bucks and is installed and lasts a long while is cheaper in the long run.

Focus on the long run, it will save time and money in the long run.

Yeah.. he's right... I had one on my 76. I put it right beside the fuel tank and I never had a problem out of it. Gravity will keep the fuel up against it.

i don't know much about it but from what i understand the electric fuel pump should be closer to the tank mine is located on the frame just behind the cab.do you have a mechanical one as well?if so move the electrical one closer to the tank feeding the mecanical as far as where to get one take that one back to napa and tell them you want an oe style inline electric fuel pump part# P70235. I have a friend here that manages a napa store and he looked it up.hte only place to buy quality
