Anyone out there have or know where to get brackets for a G 180 P/S pump?

Either off a G200 powered Impulse

Or

A G200 powered Trooper


Off either you will be able to get the pulleys and tentioner etc that you need for the setup. The Impulse could have the reservoir built in the the pump, i know the 2L 4ZC1 turbo motor does. The Trooper should be able to give you all the stock lines and stuff you need, i think the reservior was on the LH inner guard like the other bigger motors. In theory the whole Power Steer setup off a Trooper should fit, its the same chassis. Will be able to tell you in a few weeks. Im in the same boat, i need a pump to go on a G-series motor, ive only got 4Z ones here.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I've got online used parts sources looking too. Yeah, if I can only get to my favorite wrecking yard... It's only 40 miles away. They have several Troopers, Luvs, and all kinds of 'suzu stuff. Plus if they don't have anything, a truck yard next door might.

A friend says I ought to small block it... but then the only LUV parts left are the cab and the emblems. Only got 5K on a reman motor, and I'd hate to give it up.

While your at the yard have a look at their stocks of Impulse, Trooper or Pickup. The 2L turbo, 2.3L (preferably in Impulse EFI form) or the 2.6L Efi motors make a good straight forward 4cyl power up conversion. The Luv chassis is the same basic chassis as the later commercials right thru to the late 90's. With the right mounts and sump the 4Z series motors drop straight in. A lot easier than a small block or a V6.

Would you care to elaborate on what box/rack your using on your truck. Pics would be great.

Hi,

Thanks a ton for the info on the P/S pump stuff everyone. That gives me more to choose from than just being stuck searching for one vehicle.

As for the who am I; where am, and what do I have... check out "FRoG, man's" posting in the photo gallery. For some reason I lost my password and can't get on the forum with that 'handle.' So I opened up a new Forum name, 'Luvaneer.' I've also changed e-mails since then too.

It's a long story, but this LUV is going thru it's 2nd overhaul. It started out in life as a 1980 4x4 with a new rebuilt 4 banger I did myself. Then I added a homemade Willys style bed. All this was in the hope I'd be driving in 2001. For the first time ever I got my learners permit when I was 46, I'd been visually 'challenged' all my life til then. Then in 2002 I had a Cataract operation that didn't go as planned and I turned in my permit. But kept the truck. In June of 2003 I got married for the first time ever too. That little truck helped me get moved to St. Helens, Oregon where my bride and I now live.

Since the move and some miles friends were saying the turck was steering like a shopping cart. By this time the ball joints and CV boots and one caliper were shot. NAPA either wanted too much or couldn't get the parts. So it was time for an SAS. One thing led to another and now after nearly two years of trial and error and lots of tinkering... the LUV sits atop a '79 Wagoneer chassis. I swapped out the 4 speed for a 5 speed, set up the Jeep axles (D44 front/AMC 20 rear) with the LUV's 4.56 ratios and added a set of used 34x9.50 TSLs.

There's a gob of sheet metal work left to go, such as finishing the box which came off of a '77 Chevy short/step side. The floorboard needs a cover and I've yet to add running boards and fenders. But it's all a leap of faith, again; that I'll be healed and will be driving again. In the meantime the little truck has come in handy for hauling landscaping materials, and it got my bride to work in the snow two years ago.

When I met my bride she named the truck the "FRoG." (It's green) But not for what one would think. F.R.o.G. is an acronym for "Forever Relying on God." And that we have. The project has been a testimony almost as much as our marriage has. It just proves that nothing is impossible with God, if we just trust Him. In both of our lives He's proven over and over again that He is greater than our circumstances.

Yureka! I found it!!!

Someplace I read if one is asked to go a mile, go two. Well... since I needed to go on a bike ride anyway... I rode 10 miles to a yard I normally don't visit. But ya know ya gotta pay attention to those wives...

She said by the time I waste all that gas money chasing 60 miles for a part, try this yard. Sure as if she had Devine foreknowledge... that yard not only has the bracket.. It has the whole Isuzu! A 2 door Trooper with a G engine and all the pieces! $60 for the works if I pull it.

Not bad for a 2-1/2 hour, 20 mile bike ride.

And for $60 its good buing too.
Best thing about pulling it yourself is you get to keep all the bolts and brackets and ties and shit you need.

I went to help my boss today at a wrecking yard squashing cars in the compactor to be trucked off for scrap.

I spied a Trooper with a G200 and Power steering. After a short chat to the boss of the yard, he said he would sell me the power steering pump off it for $40 if i pulled it myself. I thought id grab the whole setup and try and hook it or just give the bloke $100 for the lot.

We finished squashing all the cars and were waiting for a truck to get back to take out the last load. So i grabbed spanners out of the back of my ute and got into it. I pulled off the alternator and hid that in my ute . I was just getting started on the power steering pump and the truck turned up.

All my plans went to crap and i had to take the truck and deliver the load of cars and the trucks driver took my ute back to the depot so he could go off and pick up one of the trucks that was off getting electronic stuff done.

Not happy. I found out aftr i got home that the truck he went off to get wont be ready till 10am tomorrow.


I hope the guy at the yard will honor the deal another day.

If you dont know anything about trucks this wont mean anything. lol.
84 W model. 465HP 3406B, 13spd OD Road Ranger. 3.5:1 diffs on Hendricson airbags. Shes good for 100mph in theory. lol. Its a bitch to back loaded being geared that high.
Weve also got a COE Kenworth and a CH Elite Mack doing the cars, theres another COE in the yard that needs a motor. Theres two CH Tippers in the fleet too both towing tri axle dog trailers.

You could play spot the luv. lol
