So im on my way off base and i hear a quick horn from a cop car with red blues going. I figure alrighty hes just trying to get the SP shack and get some donuts and coffee. Nope wrong, he pulls me over. He trys to site me for loud exsaust. I tell him, no Washington state law says vehicles 25 years and older are exempt from that law. He then quickly says well you need a rear bumper, i tell him i have one, its just tucked up in the form of a roll pan. He tells me its wood and not good enough. At this i realy wanted to ask this guy if he ever had any formal schooling or if his inbred mother tought him all he knows. For the record my rear bumper is 3" channel iron, vary hard to mistake for wood. Anyway after talking to my first shirt and arguing with the freakin base police i now have to revert my bumpers back to stock. This kinda annoys me becouse theres by-laws that i can quote that imply you can modify bumpers and define what a bumper is. They are simply siting the broarder laws that dont specify a damn thing, but since hes a TSgt and im an A1C hes right and im wrong i guess. So i will bolt on stock bumpers, but i will not roll over. Tonight i un-corck my header...
Oh also does anyone have a stupid loud deisel truck i can borrow for a while. Ill be driving a 74 25' Motorhome for a while to spite them as well, it has a 350 with blown out glasspacks. At this point i just want to piss em off, but legally...

i used to get harassed on Fort Lewis for the exhaust on my Trans Am. The law in WA used to be your exhaust had to reach past the rearmost part of the drivers seat in it's most rearward position. So my exhaust was headers, turbo muffler connected directy to the collector and just enough pipe to reach 1/4 inch past the legal minimum. Do they still have the law up there about having a litter recepticle in your car?

You have even better luck with cops than I do Dillon. I'm impressed. And where are you getting a motorhome from? You should borrow Alan's Duct Tape one. That would get you pulled over for sure.

So why are you putting the stock bumper back on? Why don't you just extend the mounts and leave the channel iron bumper on? Or am I just being absurd again?

the cops always try to get me here for my exhaust. all i have is a manifold, hollowed out cat and then a pipe that comes out in front of my driverside rear tire. basically straight piped. it aint even that loud either, but they still try to get me. oh yeah, one cop pulled me over for not runnin a hood and tried to ticket me. said it was illegal and i told him to show me the law that said that runnin hoodless was illegal.

so whenever i see a cop i make sure to rev the straight pipe real loud, justto piss them off!

When i was in the military, any tickets you got had to be dealt with at another base or post. This kept pencil whipping down to zero. Having to take a day to travel to another base and deal with this kind of stuff got you in hot water with your shop. You could find yourself scrubbing toilets back at the barracks for 2 weeks.
Military cops are the most "ate up" law enforcement i've ever dealt with. They know just enough to cause problems and you have to show what is actually legal.

man i just thought about this. I realy need to build a T-Roadster, all trashy and with no exsaust. That would realy annoy em becouse it would be blatantly illegal but its an "antique" so they couldnt touch it!

You could end up getting orders to a new duty station before you get a rat rod built. And besides, that's alot of money spent just to annoy one stupid cop. That dork is going to pull some crap on somebody with some pull and that will be the end of him.
