Hello peoples, :D

I'm dave and i just picked up a 75 luv from an old high school friend.
We used to ride around in this truck every weekend. It has a lot of memories in it. He told me he did an engine swap to a newer model, but didn't know what year it was. is there a way I can tell just by looking at it?
Or is there a stamp on the block or something. the air breather is on the passenger side and the exhaust is on the driver side.

I think i'm going to do a 350 swap later, but i'd like to get it running for now. it hasn't been run in 5 years. He said it was running fine the last time he ran it. I gues i'm going to change all the fluids, plugs and check the break lines, anything else i need to do that you can think of?

Welcome to the site, Dave. Glad to hear the LUV (and yourself) survived the weather last year.

Chevy (or Isuzu) used one eng. from 72 till 75. It had the carb and exhaust one side of the eng.

Then 76 till 80 they used the eng. you have. There weren't really any differences in the eng. you have. Just maybe some smog / carb. vacuum lines and stuff.

So yes, it sounds like yours was upgraded to the newer style eng.

Enjoy your new / old toy. 8)
