wondering what temp sending unit is used with v-8 conversion. I have a gauge. Factory luv unit does not fit in manifold well.

I used the stock one and adapted it to the head in between the exhaust ports on the side.

Most will run an aftermarket gage like Autometer. It would be more accurate.
If you are able to adapt the stock sensor to the V-8, it may not read the same as the original 4 cyl. If the 4 cyl temp reading rode at the low end of the white range of the stock gage and the V-8 rides at the high end, would it be 10, 15, 20 degrees higher? You wouldn't know the exact temp (degrees).

I used a extra water temp sending unit off of my Ford FE that I had laying around, and it seems to be pretty accurate. I got it working using the stock temp. gauge. I'm not sure what intake your using but I'm running a holley dual plane. I just put the sensor from the FE in one of those holes up next to the thermostat. I could get a picture tommorow if you'd like?

I will have aftermarket gauges to monitor the exact temp. I just want the factory gauge to function also. I hate having things not work properly.

I am running a preformer rpm air gap vortec . I would like to try the old ford sender if it worked for you . I have plenty of water ports to choose from. I already have the aftermarket gauge sending unit mounted. I also have 2 oil pressure sending units. One for the light and the other for the aftermarket gauge. You don't always look at the gauge, but that light comes on you know it.
