alright before you all tell me to scrap it and get a weber... i plan too but i don't have the cash right now. anyways. i'm planning on wiring my stock carb myself and i know i want the cut off solinoid to turn with my ignition but when does the coasting richer sol. turn on and off. and if i wired it constant would it be better to stay on or off? any idea's?

oh and it's a cable choke so i don't have to worry about that. my whole reason for this is it's a different year carb than my truck and the wires don't match up.

Do you have a manual or automatic and do have a federal or california truck.

I found that the windshield washer wire is a "hot when key is on" wire and is right there and easy to splice into.

If it hasn't a catalytic converter, it's federal.

From a 1978 series book it said for a federal 4 speed you have a wire coming from the ing. switch going to the accelerator switch, clutch switch, transmission 4th/3rd gear switch(in series)to the coasting richer soleniod valve and from there to the engine speed senor. It says when all of those switches turn on, the coasting richer valve and a magnet installed on the secondary side of carburetor become enerized and cause the valve to open.

ok well when i had the tranny out putting a new input shaft bearing in it i hooked the third gear wire to the reverselight wire on accident. so i know wich one it is. i'll just wire the coasting richer sol. to the 3rd and 4th gear switch and bypass the rest since i already bypassed the clutch switch so i can start it remotely. :D thanks for all your help guys.

There are two switches on the clutch, one for the safety start deal and one for the CR system. If you skip the clutch and gas pedal switches it will run a bit rich in 3rd and 4th all the time you are driving. The clutch one you could probably skip, but I'd wire in the accelerator pedal switch at least so the CR system only comes on when coasting. You'd be better off to just not wire it in at all rather than have it just hooked to the trans switch I think.

well if it'll work just fine without i'd rather do that cus i'm basically just trying to simplifiy my truck. i don't remember ever seeing a switch on the throttle :? if you remember from my past posts i've been having a problem with my truck running rich. i'm pretty sure it's because of this cr sol. getting constant power. well thanks for the help.

The throttle switch is in the cab just above the throttle pedal.
