also i've heard if you put a g180 head on the g200 you get alot of compression. never done it myself, but i think 800xl has

I have a truck with a G200 block and G180 head on it, but I have not driven it on the street to find out what sort of detonation problems it might have. I got the truck that way and it was a basket case with a lot of other problems, like a rattle in the timing chain cover that sounds like someone lost their marbles down in there.

A 2.3L or 2.6L Isuzu motor should also bolt to the trans, but you have a lot of other things to figure out how to solve, like ignition wiring on the 2.3L with a carb or running wiring to the 2.6L fuel injection. The 2.3L carb intake will fit on a 2.6L though.

Or a pickup, pup or whatever you lot call them.
Or you could chase down an Isuzu Impulse, but not a twin cam the starter is on the wrong side, you would need a Diesel (C190 or C223) gearbox.

G200 has its merits all the stuff bolts up. The G200 in the Impulse had EFI and higher compression.

Or you could go an engine from the 4Z family. They have a timing belt at the front instead of the chain.
4ZC1 2L Turbo from an Impulse.
4ZD1 2.3L Efi from an impulse. Carby from a pup or trooper.
4ZE1 2.6L Efi from a pup, trooper, honda passport, amigo, rodeo maybe too.

The 4cyl trooper and the pup are on the same basic chassis, which is very similar to the Luv one. Theres your mounts and stuff.

Be careful what you bolt up infront of the box, its not indestructable. How you drive will tell you whats safe to put in.

Another motor that will fit is the 4FB1 1.8L (Or 4FC1 2L if they had it) Diesel out of an I-mark. In Japan the 2L was factory turbo. These motors are the same bellhousing pattern.

Theres heaps of options.

Cheers. Bob.
