I moved three of my luvs out into the field to mow their little home, the three that move on their own at least. Since they were all lined up nice I decided to snap a picture or two of them.

The closest is my trusty 77, my first rig. Still runs 16 or so years later and I've never had the motor apart. The next is the black 79 4x4 I resurrected when I had to sell my nice white 79 4x4. The motor is tired and the weber needs rebuilt, but once it gets above 20-30MPH it screams down the road. The last one is a 1980 4x4 sitting on 31x10.5 tires, 3 inches of body lift and all the suspension lift it can give, tires still rub the fenders. It has the G200 block with the G180 head under the hood. If it didn't have a nasty rattle in the timing chain area I'd find out how long it could spin those 31s on pavement.

Not shown are a couple more 79s, three 76s and a 77, all not much good except for parts. Well, one 76 could live again, and one of the 79s is still all there, just not pretty.

Backorded 4000 parts, WOW that guy must be a great business man. He probably has no time for anything else then working on his LUVS. I guess no internet for him.

The 1 1/2 ton in the foreground is a runner, I forget what year that one is. The one behind it is indeed a Chevy COE, a 1951 IRRC with the shortest wheelbase they made. In fact, from tire to tire it is a tad shorter than a LUV even. Right now it has a dump truck box on it, but you can see the remains of a tractor/trailer hitch under the box so it used to be a semi. Somewhere early in its life it got a motor upgrade to a 261 with full pressure oil system that still runs pretty good. Its too bad the body is a mass of rust flakes held together with some fiberglass resin in a few places.

The real gem around that farm is the 1950 Chevy COE farm truck my dad restored when I was just a little kid. Dad still uses it to haul farm machinery around, though the paint could stand to be freshened up. I'll dig up some pics of it, I know I have some good ones. The best would be the picture of the COE farm truck hauling the COE dumptruck, that was quite a load.

I should take some pics of the rest of the LUVs, and maybe a couple other things not LUV related. There is an early 40s Chevy COE, a REO Speedwagon (the farm truck, not the band), a handful of old school Dodge Powerwagons, a cabforward jeep pickup (FC-170 I think), and who knows what all else.

800, Are you or your dad members of ATHS (American Truck Historical Society)? They are all about those old trucks and I've seen lots of cab overs in the club. Heres a link to the national site. They have local chapters all over the country.

so is the motor in the luv with the big tires the one with the crazy compression?

Yep, that is the one. A dry compression test comes up with 195-200 on all four cylinders. I think the prior owner screwed something up with the timing chain guides though, as it rattles bad in that area at certain RPMs. Other than that, it runs pretty well even after it sat for 6-7 years.

I found a pic of that COE dumptruck you can see in the background. This is how it arrived after a trip through downtown Salem, OR. The pair almost caused a couple of accidents from people rubbernecking as it drove by.

And here is a CAT TwentyTwo crawler with a stuck motor that holds up a good crop of brush:

Another shot of the workhorse COE, hauling a gas powered Caterpiller R2, you can make out my blue luv and a power wagon in the background:

if the dude that you're talking about is the one I think he is, don't trust him. As you said he's very rude, and was kicked out of another web site for Luv trucks, for foul language and basically starting problems. He started another web site for luv's and it's basically HIS web site, selling his inventory, and if you disagree with him, or make a mistake, he'll kick you out. He does a lot of posting on ebay. Just be aware!!!!
