O.k., so I got a Weber. Not new, but a Luv manifold/Weber combo setup.
From Australia. But that's a different story.

Slapped it on, ran pretty good, but seemed a little sluggish. I knew that the Weber needs to be tuned, so I did some research on the net.

The idle mix setting was initially was 3 3/4 out. I did a baseline setting, setting the idle mix at 2 turns, and the idle speed at 1 turn, per the instructions. It says to back out the idle mix screw until there is no response. Engine rpm kept increasing until I was back at 3 3/4, and then brought the idle down with the idle screw.

So, I screwed the idle mix screw back in to two turns. (Then engine tries to die at about 1 3/4).

At 3 3/4 turns out, there seems to be a slight off idle stumble. At two turns, there is no stumble.

So, at two turns out, response seems is better, but idle RPM is up, and the idle speed screw is essentially all the way out and non-functional, and I can't bring the idle speed down. If I understand correctly, I need to upsize the idle jet.

Any comments?

Pulled the jet a couple of times, drill the feed hole larger each time, put it back, truck runs like crap. Ha.
Guess I'll get a jet kit.

Turn the mixture screw first in and then out until it runs rough each time. Then set halfway between. And yup, if the throttle cable is too tight, the idle adjustment screw will never drop back against it's stop and so won't idle low enuf.

You guys nailed it. I got some new jets today, and have it dialed in just like the Weber tuning guide says. Then, I saw that the cable tension was too tight, Loosened it up, got the idle right down to where I want it.
I didn't think it was too tight, but it was. Big hats off to ya!!
