Line up the crank at TDC, the cam with the mark on the camshaft straight up. The cam mark is on the shaft behind the sprocket on the shaft, I think on the thrust flange(wider bit that runs in a groove on the head), and I believe it lines up with the pin that holds the sprocket in place. There should be a little bit of a mark of the head to line it up with.
You can also take out the distributor and look down the hole to make sure the slot is offset the right direction, but basically the above should put #4 in firing position.
I'm kind of rusty on this stuff right now and in a hurry for work, maybe I'll revisit this tonight and see if I can't get you more definite info. Also search for an old post I did about a year ago that talks about doing this. I know I went into obscene detail on cam/crank/distributor alignment when I posted about finally getting my 80 running.
